Pros & Cons

  • ayumi is practically naked, some cool spell attacks, combat is quite fluid, excellent graphics and animation, impressive visuals
  • soon becomes tedious, voice acting is horrible, no internet battles, a clichéd, muddled good evil plot

X-Blades is a competent action game, but it lacks the fine touch that could have made it something special. It just cannot seem to make the most of its solid backbone. The diverse combat is too often made one-dimensional, the impressive visuals lack variety, and the imposing bosses are pushovers. Nevertheless, there is undeniable fun in vanquishing a horde of unholy enemies, and with two endings and a few unlockables, there is plenty of value for those who thrive on... Read more

Are you me? Or Ayumi? [THUMB1] Ayumi yummy yummy When embarking on a globetrotting adventure to discover lost artefacts and make a ton of cash at the same time, what would a shapely young female adventurer choose to wear? Perhaps a selection of outdoorsy but quite revealing hard wearing clothing a la Lara Croft? Or a rugged pair of canvas pants, a fedora and a whip? Or alternatively a thong, a skimpy balconette bra and a bloody great big pair of boots. Read more

X-Blades fails to excite on any level and falls flat in everything it attempts. Probably best to ignore this and pretend it doesn’t exist. Read more

If the controls were a bit more friendly then X-Blades would be an above-average little action adventure with some tough bosses. The cut Manga scenes are very impressive to watch and the various spells can be quite spectacular too, but the overall story is muddled and cliched. There are some bumps, but at least it all looks fantastic. Read more

You'd think that there's not a lot to expect from a game like this. A Devil May Cry clone with a half-dressed chick swinging two huge gun-swords around killing things. Seems like a sure thing. And yet, it fails to deliver. The game tries to hide the half-baked level design by making you stand in place while monsters respawn until you kill enough to close the portal, just to stretch things out in a room roughly the size of a mens' bathroom stall. The camera is apparently... Read more

Fun: Well it has good graphics and a sexy lead character but where's its lacking is in gameplay where its repeating the same thing all over again. I know its a hack & Slash game but even Devil May cry 4 has more variation than this. For the achievement Hunter's this is a easy thousand though. Read more
