List All 2 PricesEven though KOFXII's new sprites and backgrounds are big, vibrant, and well animated, when you sit down to play the game for a bit, you'll find that the soundtrack is mostly unexciting ambient music and background noises. Sitting down longer with the game will probably make you yearn for more offline modes or your favorite KOF characters that didn't make the cut. And trying to play the game online--at least at the time of this writing--will probably make you want to... Read more
This is the brightest, most colourful game you'll ever play. And that's a fact. No, don't even try and argue with this one. Forget about Beautiful Katamari, playing King of Fighters XII is like watching Chernobyl take place in a Haribo factory with its blinding mix of rainbow explosions, fizzy effects and eye-melting neons. Overall King of Fighters XII has been a bit of a disappointment, with the release Mark of Garou on Xbox LIVE recently we remember how good this franchise was, sadly number XII does not live up to it. Oh well, we can always hope for lucky number XIII. Read more
This year has been a fantastic run for fighting games and it all started with the release of Street Fighter IV , which created momentum for other game developers to take advantage of. This year, SNK Playmore has also boarded this bandwagon by releasing a new entry to The King of Fighters series, simply titled The King of Fighters XII ( KOF XII ). This latest entry celebrates the 15th year anniversary of this long running fighting game series, so is it a game worth... Read more
King of Fighters XII celebrates the franchise's 15th anniversary with this release, fighting 3-on-3, so the first team to lose all three characters (which is usually mine, against the CPU) is eliminated. You start off with a choice of 22 bad-ass guys and gals with which to make your choice, and while it can be easy to make the choice to just go for women you can stare at, let's face it - they don't always get the job done, do they? That's why there's more blokes you can... Read more
Anyone saying it looks like a Super Nintendo game, is clearly lacking in intellect and is grossly misinformed. I'd be surprised if a person who knew so little about 2D art and animation actually bought the game they are comparing to a 16 bit system. If you are a legitimate fan of fighters, be it 2D or 3D and already have a KOF game in your collection, buy this game, it's really that simple. Support the companies that make great games!!! With The king of Fighters series, you keep the classic 2D fighter alive. I play in 1080p and I cannot be more pleased with the animation and shading of the characters. The animation is fluid and rivals, if not bests, Street Fighter III Third Strike, which set the bar pretty high for 2D animation. The Marvel Vs. Series actually shows it's age compared to this game. I personally have preferred the KOF style to the Street Fighter combo heavy systems, but I enjoy both. This... Read more
As a longtime KOF fan, I was really looking forward to this game, and I REALLY wanted to like it. Unfortunately, SNK missed a golden opportunity to re-create the franchise and attract new players. Compared to Street Fighter IV (a game that was released roughly four months before this game) KOF XII is about as bare bones as it gets. There is no training mode, no animated introductions, no final boss, no endings, and the online play is slow. There is nothing to unlock, and... Read more
