Soulcalibur returns with the same deep fighting system and a new online mode that makes it an easy game to recommend. Yoda and Vader invade this video review for Soulcalibur 4. Though it wasn't possible when SoulCalibur IV arrived in stores, Darth Vader and Yoda can now be pitted against each other regardless of which platform you're playing on. Adding an extra Star Wars character to your roster isn't free, though, and at around five dollars it's not great value either. Read more
Don't be fooled by the number. What we have here is technically the fifth game in the long running fighting franchise. Prior to the first game bearing the Soul Calbur moniker (in arcades and on Dreamcast), there was Soul Blade (aka Soul Edge), where many of the weapon-wielding heroes on show today made their first appearances. Everyone's got their favourite genres. Everyone's got their favourite gaming platform. There are as many different tastes as there are stars in the damn sky. So its no surprise when I say I'm one of those stars in the sky, more specifically, the star that likes beating the crap out of people with exaggerated weapons while wearing nothing more then a thong and a piece of string. Well, I'd rather not, but apparently that's all the ladies of Soul Calibur need. Read more
It's not exactly pick up and play, it definitely helps to learn all the combos you can. The game's pretty fun in single player, very fun in multiplayer, BUT, online is a bit of a shambles. Most people you enter a game with will quit, meaning you have to start again. Now maybe i'm just bad at it, but it seems to me that it was near impossible to win. I expect it's because only the good players stick around for long online. I didn't much care for character creation, i'll... Read more
While some might find the price a bit expensive, It does pay for itself in the improvement you get in controls in fighting and arcade games. It allows you pull off moves a lot easier than the standard Xbox 360 controller. Works with all 360 fighting games. Read more
If you're a fan of the series, then you'll probably love this game. Graphics are great, and the combat has always been a plus. Additionally, Darth Vader is a complete bad rump, but I wonder how Yoda is on the 360. After you get past the polish, it's essentially the same game it's always been. The finishing moves are pretty cool, but they get old, like any other fighting games finishing moves would. Online mode is where it's a plus for me. Fighting against someone else... Read more
Honestly, only reason I put this in my console was to play as yoda. Now that I have, i'm diggin it. Will absolutely be playing this again. Fighting system is balanced and well thought out. Read more
Fun: I joined the Soul Calibur story at SC3 (although i remember playing a PS1 version when Cervantes was the boss) and it's safe to say the story is never as gripping and entertaining as the Tekken series but we buy these games to beat people up really.. However it wasn't the main game I fell in love with on SC3 it was the side game where you have to take over bases and have a character that levels up in an RPG style.. I loved that and got hours of gameplay out of it..... Read more
