On the whole, Rock Revolution just falls short on every level. If Konami wants to get back into this genre they’re going to have to do much better than this. The bar has been raised now, and if they want to compete in this soon to be crowded market they’ll have to go back to take it again from the top. Read more

If Rock Revolution came out two or three years ago, it might have been revolutionary, but in 2008, it's not even relevant. Uninspired presentation, a tiny tracklist that includes no master tracks, a complete lack of vocal support, uninteresting gameplay, and a barebones Career mode are just a few of the many ways in with Rock Revolution fails. In fact, it fails to live up to its name, Konami's past, and, most importantly, the competition. Read more

  3. Some revolutions are transformative. Some are just crap

To summarize: Rock Revolution is inferior to its competition in every single possible way. If you absolutely have to try it, we urge you to think of it as a track pack of guitar-only songs for Rock Band or Guitar Hero and buy just the game (instead of the drums-included bundle). But considering the songs are all cover versions and you have to use the guitar controllers from Rock Band or Guitar Hero anyhow, your money is still better spent downloading new songs for one of... Released to fill a gap in a market that doesn’t really exist. Cheap, bland, and pretty much tasteless, like that value-brand white block that claims it’s chicken. Read more

But is it worth the money if you just want a few dozen extra tracks to bang away to with that drum kit gathering dust in the garage? No. The gameplay mechanics are rubbish, the progression system is limited and the multiplayer options are pathetic. There's nothing revolutionary about this game and there's certainly nothing "rock" about it. For 25 quid, you could hire Richard Blackwood and Daniel Bedingfield for the afternoon and still have change for an egg sandwich, a... Read more

Rock Revolution is basically Konami's comeback of it's 1998 Japanese hits, Guitar freaks and DrumMania. These two games were the building blocks of today's insanely popular rhythm games. Guitar Hero and Rock Band were most likely spinoffs of these two ... Read more

Fun: I bought this game not knowing what it would be like. it came after a few days and i cannot describe how bad it was. There were no original songs they were all terrible covers. I play the guitar and drums on expert and the way the notes came at me nearly gave me motion sickness. IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING BUYING THIS GAME DONT BUY GUITAR HERO ITS MUCH BETTER Read more

Compared to GH and RB, it's poor quality. But, I'm a big fan of rhythm games, so I bought a cheap used one. The 2 dimensional fretboard makes the notes harder to see, and they're small. Some of the songs are good, many are not. Read more
