3 Comments When we talk of beauty on our Xbox 360, we think dank corridors of an underwater city or the photorealism of a virtual city as we race past in a Ferrari. Yet Eternal Sonata's brilliance is in its loyalty to the aesthetic vision of 90s videogaming (bright primary colours, vibrant hues) re-imagined with current technology. For RPG-buffs, its porn for the eyeballs, every character, town and dungeon intrinsically detailed, making Blue Dragon look as drab as a set... Read more

The new dungeons are quite good and help extend the length a bit, though you should be aware that one of them is only available to you once you complete the game, which clocks in at under 35 hours. Even with the new content, though, Eternal Sonata is much the same game as before--which makes it one that you should play, if you haven't already. Its lovely, gentle story and fun combat make for a heartwarming journey that will both draw you in and make you wish you didn't... Read more
In the end, Eternal Sonata is let down by its failure to take advantage of the story it sets up for itself. That said, there’s enough left in the plot to carry it, and it still remains as very playable RPG with an ever–changing, fast–paced battle system and a beautiful setting. Read more
I'm only a couple hours into the game, but so far this is the best console RPG I've ever played. The story is sweet and moving, less epic perhaps than the traditional RPG fare, but certainly full of depth and wonder. At two hours, I'm already invested in every main character that has been introduced. I can't say enough about the subtle uniqueness of this title. The setting is bright and pastel; a fantasy world that owes far more to Studio Ghibli than Tolkein. Bhuddist... Read more
Fun: This review is from: Eternal Sonata (Xbox 360) (Video Game) If you love japanese rpgs this is definately for you. It's a BEAUTIFUL game, everything is so nice to look at. The characters are rich and beautifully designed. Pretty good story, it's great how it's based on a real person, it makes the story a little more special. I also really enjoyed the battle system. It's quite interesting having a timer and also the characters use different attacks depending on if... Read more
The potential for this game was so extraordinary. Everything about this game could have turned into possibly one of the greatest RPG's off all time. But, due to lacking execution, the game fell very, very short of that title. The entire game's premise was very unique, had very vivid imagery (especially for being one of the more "older" titles), and wonderful music, but everything else did not hold up to the standards that the others placed. The characters are very plain,... Read more
Skip the cutscenes about Chopin (real Chopin, not in game Chopin). They are very lengthy, and the historical knowledge is worthless. You can go back and listen to the Chopin music afterwards in game (full jukebox mode), so there's no need to watch a history lesson). Read more
