Other characters in Devil May Cry 4 include Lady and Trish from previous games, along with new characters such as Kyrie, Credo, Gloria and Agnus. In this game, players must complete missions to enter the next level, occasionally solving puzzles or gathering items. Performance in a mission is graded from D being the bottom grade through C, B, A and S being the highest grade, of which are based on items used, Red Orbs gathered, time taken, and the amount of Style points accumulated. Each style point grade has its own tag-word. Players use Proud Souls to purchase new abilities while Red Orbs are used to buy items. Proud Souls are rewarded at the end of missions and the amount varies depending on how well the player performs with S rank.

See less9 Comments Grinding is often a dirty word in videogaming. A phrase coined for titles whose gameplay is solely about levelling up your character. The method is in tackling the same enemy hordes repeatedly, ad infinitum. Grindcore, as we've termed it, is attractive only to a select audience. Hammering the 'A' button relentlessly is seen by most as repetitious boredom. Read more
So Devil May Cry 4 leaves me wanting more just like the first 3 did. It plays great, looks great and sounds great. It’s also something that the 360 just doesn’t have any of, and that’s character action games. Give it a go, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Read more
Where Devil May Cry 4 succeeds is its fun and carefree approach, not in its ability to win hearts and minds of the intellectual gamers out there Read more
Online leaderboards, challenging achievements on both platforms, and a host of unlockables (including an action-only survival mode) will keep stalwart fans coming back for more, in spite of all the repetition. Recycled content and some pacing inconsistencies aside, Devil May Cry 4 is a great game, and it delivers a lot of quality action that will please fans without alienating those new to the series. If you liked previous entries, you'll find what you're looking for... Read more
When we finished DMC3, we wondered what Capcom would do with new hardware. The answer is not an awful lot. The visuals are better, the combat's more accessible, the upgrade system's pleasingly flexible, but in practically every other sense Capcom has passed up the opportunity to do something new and exciting. After more than seven years, the Devil May Cry series finds itself in the same kind of safe, reliable trough that Resident Evil was in before Resi 4. DMC4 can still... Read more
If you liked the original devil may cry you will love this. bottom line. Good balance between action and puzzles and the games moves forward at a nice tempo with an interesting easy to follow story. I bought Ninja Gaiden 2 after completing devil may cry thinking it would be similar but it was too action orientated for me and doesnt hold a candle to devil may cry in my opinion of course. After seeing some trailer from game shows, the long waited Devil May Cry 4 was finally released early this year on both PS3 and XBox 360 as well as PC in a later date. Even before it came out, developer of Devil May Cry 4 was boasting of good graphics and different playing style and they are not kidding. Devil May Cry 4 does have good graphics, one that seriously overshadow the other games. And the details of stuffs in the game are very well made. Devil May Cry 4... Read more
Fun: Got this game a few days ago and enjoyed it from the word go. Nice graphics, easy to get to grips with playing Nero, found the bosses fun (not enough games these days with bosses) and just found it loads of fun to play :) Playing as Dante for me wasnt as fun as i loved Nero's arm grab stuff but it was still cool and Dante is a great character :) Overall great game for a low price and as i bought it as a change from my usual FPS stuff it was exactly what i was... By the fourth installment, I thing everyone should have the picture by now. DMC is DMC and can never be anything else. Dark castles, over the top cut scenes, and the best action game controls ever. BOTTOM LINE: No need for an extensive review .... if you like DMC and DMC 3, then this game is for you. If you didn't like those games, maybe COD or Gears would be more up your alley. Read more
Despite the stunning good looks, this game is quite shallow. The gameplay is very repetetive, and certain environments are visited again later on in the game(see ’Silent 4: The Room’ also), giving you the feeling that the game developers just couldn’t really be bothered. Very linear too. However the boss battles are fantastic, and the cut scenes are very good. For parents thinking of buying this for children - Violence throughout the game, involving fantasy...
