The Devil May Cry 4 is the fourth instalment of the Devil May Cry series.

Features

In Devil May Cry 4, the player controls both Nero and Dante, the game’s protagonist and the series’ title character respectively and fights enemies in close combat using firearms, swords and other weapons. Other characters in Devil May Cry 4 include Lady and Trish from previous games, along with new characters such as Kyrie, Credo, Gloria and Agnus. In this game, players must complete missions to enter the next level, occasionally solving puzzles or gathering items. Performance in a mission is graded from D being the bottom grade through C, B, A and S being the highest grade, of which are based on items used, Red Orbs gathered, time taken, and the amount of Style points accumulated. Each style point grade has its own tag-word. Players use Proud Souls to purchase new abilities while Red Orbs are used to buy items. Proud Souls are rewarded at the end of missions and the amount varies depending on how well the player performs with S rank.

What helps is that Devil May Cry's become pretty lenient about how it doles out its perks. Although you still use red orbs to buy new skills - like a double-jump, improved combos or chargeable shots - you can sell them back for the same amount, so it's a simple question of mixing and matching attributes until you find your own style. This comes in even more useful when Dante tags himself in for the game's second half - the older demon slayer's got four different styles,... Read more

So Devil May Cry 4 leaves me wanting more just like the first 3 did. It plays great, looks great and sounds great. It’s also something that the 360 just doesn’t have any of, and that’s character action games. Give it a go, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Read more

When we finished DMC3, we wondered what Capcom would do with new hardware. The answer is not an awful lot. The visuals are better, the combat's more accessible, the upgrade system's pleasingly flexible, but in practically every other sense Capcom has passed up the opportunity to do something new and exciting. After more than seven years, the Devil May Cry series finds itself in the same kind of safe, reliable trough that Resident Evil was in before Resi 4. DMC4 can still... Read more

When the original Devil May Cry was released on the PlayStation 2 back in 2001 it quickly became an instant hit, obviously in the years to come it was followed by two sequels yet, for me these never left the same impression as the original. Now the series makes its next generation debut, and thankfully the game has made a similar impression as the original. Read more
