Pros & Cons

  • can be very satisfing, great gameplay, and ultimately very entertaining, fantastic foes, tight controls
  • a couple of bugs, slightly repetitive, some repeated enemies, a little short, poor storytelling

In the future, Earth’s appetite for resources has become a major motivator for deep space exploration. Immense, privately-owned and operated mining ships called “planetcrackers” orbit planets and use sophisticated equipment to carve out entire city-sized chunks of rock, and reduce them to component elements and raw ore. When an immense mining ship, the USG Ishimura, comes into contact with a mysterious alien artifact in a remote star system, its communications with Ea…

Features

The game play of the Dead Space requires player to take the role of an engineer named Isaac Clarke, who battles a polymorphic alien infestation that transforms humans into grotesque alien monsters called "Necromorphs" on board a stricken interstellar mining ship named the USG Ishimura. The information about the game is displayed via holographic projections, that which hover over or in front of Isaac’s weapons and suit. The suit has an indicator that displays a health indicator. Moreover, there is a store in the game that can be accessed which allows player to buy and store stuffs for later use. The suit has limited amount of air while in airless environments, which can cause him to suffocate, forcing the player to move faster when in these situations. 7 Comments The door slides open with a screech of metal on metal, revealing a scene from Hell itself. Maggots writhe in the wounds of corpses snagged on metal gratings. Desperate warnings are written on the wall in blood. A row of cracked monitors alternate between bursts of static and weird sigils. Read more

Dead Space is a remarkable game from a well-tread genre that manages to stand out from its competitors in almost every way, from visual presentation to engaging story, innovative combat mechanics to fright factor. At around ten hours playtime the single player story isn't huge value for your money and amongst all the borrowing EA have done, they have failed to add re-playability by including an 'Mercenaries' style arcade mode. Any survival horror fan or gamer who likes their games dark, twisted or gory will lap this up. This may not be the most original game but it's a truly slick production and presents a story to grip you whilst it lasts. If you can't wait for the release of... Read more

Few games have really forayed into the genre of survival horror, first coined in 1996 by Resident Evil. Dead Space is one of these games, so how does it fair against the genre’s defining series? Read more

I found out that this was a console port to the P.C. bad , bad and more bad. No patches and the developer doesn't care after I checked out many sites with posts on this game. Apparently this game is great on the console but is bad on the P.C. I tried every resolution possible and all my drivers are current on a 9600GT Nvidia card. The configuration boxes where you select certain options are cut off and not viewable on the monitor. I tried all resolutions to no avail.... Read more

I bought Dead Space on the back of some great reviews and wasn't dissapointed. Easily and quickly summed up as 'Resident Evil' in Space meets Alien Trilogy and then some. You play the part of Isaac Clarke a space engineer sent on a repair mission. Things soon go nasty when its clear that everyone on board the ship you've been sent to repair is dead and in their place are flesh-eating aliens! The game is standard FPS fare with savepoints, cash you can pickup for upgrades... Read more

Fun: This is by far the best shoot'em up I've played on the 360! It's scary, atmospheric, and you can slice the enemy up with copious amounts of blood splatter. (My second best game is Doom 3, but that's on XBox - but just as scary!). Get DS - you won't regret it!!!! When will we get Dead Space-2 ?!!!! Read more

I was a little skeptic about trying this game out, but I am glad I did. Once you start playing you can't stop. It is also fun to play multiple times. The story line, visual and sound effects can be a little creepy when played for the first time. I would highly recommend buying this game. Update: Be careful with description on Amazon it is inaccurate. This is not the original version as stated on picture, but the Platinum/Greatest Hits version. No change on gameplay just... Read more

i have to say this game is the best alien like zombie game that i have ever played in a long time. I would recommend this game to those who are good at playing in the dark and not pee themselves. But it;s hard to kill the zombies because they just keep coming and coming. Read more
