Darksiders unapologetically borrows gameplay ideas and mechanics from all over the spectrum and is constantly cramming new ones in all the way up to the very end. While it's not innovative by any stretch of the imagination, neither is it entirely derivative, as these myriad features not only gel together surprisingly well, but when put together even feel fresh again. On the same day that Darksiders hit stores across the UK a certain other hack-and-slash action game from SEGA made itself available. With the average gamer’s January budget never being a strong one, and Bayonetta being screamed about the most, Darksiders was certainly starting to look a little overshadowed to say the least. The post-apocalyptic world they have crafted is brimming with details, both in terms of the character designs and the small effects littered throughout the game. Unfortunately, we didn't get to play to see these effects a second time as there isn't much of a replayability factor, with only the... Read more
