Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is a sequel to The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. It is said to be the remake of its predecessor as well. This game was developed by Starbreeze Studios and it was published by Atari. The Assault on Dark Athena was announced in October 2008 and released on March 4, 2009.

Features

Assault on Dark Athena stars Vin Diesel as the title character, Richard B. Riddick. He has also starred in the Chronicles of Riddick movie. In this one, the graphics and AI have been improved. The addition of a multiplayer mode will attract more players to play this game. This means the single has been expanded to include Riddick escaping onto a mercenary ship called Dark Athena. In this game, Riddick and Johns are torn out of space by the Dark Athena as soon as they escaped from the Butcher Bay prison. The Dark Athena is a massive spaceship inhabited by former mercenaries turned interstellar pirates. From there on, Riddick makes his way through the bowels of the ship to escape the ruthless female captain who wants him dead. There’s the Pitch Black mode that has been fully enjoyed by players. The Pitch Black mode is one of the online offerings on this game. This version comes with a similar type of DRM system as the PC game, Spore. What it does is, it restrains more than three installation of this game and online verification is needed to further the installation.

  1. The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is many things: an attractive rerelease of an amazing game, a mildly disappointing sequel, and a forgettable online experience. If you haven't played Butcher Bay, it's a must-play. If you have, be aware of the sequel's abundant shortcomings before making a purchase. Nevertheless, though the new content lets in far too much sunlight, those that crave the darkness will still find plenty of inky crevasses in which to lurk. Read more

Riddick is back - and not before time. One of our favourite gravely voiced antiheroes makes a welcome return in this revamp of a classic movie-inspired licence. For those that are unfamiliar, Riddick is a character from the movie Pitch Black - played by Mr Baritone himself, the impossibly monikerd Vin Diesel. Riddick is a classic villain slash good guy. A convict on his way to The Butcher's Bay Correctional Facility, he makes a stealthy escape thanks in large part to his... Read more

All in all I can whole heartedly urge you to buy Chronicles of Riddick Assault on Dark Athena, with two games on one disc, both with excellent single player and a respectable multiplayer it is well worth your money and by now the price may well have already dropped. Read more

Positives: 1. I like the story line. 2. I'm a Riddick fan so the opportunity to play him is cool. Negatives: 1. The AI Players are just plain stupid. They'll see you, shoot at you, and if find a hiding spot in the dark, eventually they continue whatever they were doing before. You can kill every other guard in the room and the last one will never call in for backup. Plus they'll simply turn their back on the location you were hiding so you can kill them. 2. Riddick moves... Read more

This game would get an outright 5 stars, ten out of ten, AAA, slap my face and call me judy etc etc IF it didn't have Dark Athena on the disc ruining the original Butcher Bay. First off - Butcher Bay was amazing. It still is. It was my absolute favourite title by a mile on the original Xbox, so this sequel was always gonna get real scrutinised by me. They have done a wonderful job in updating Butcher Bay and it really is the definitive version of that game to play.... Read more

Fun: Simple and sweet review: One of the best games ive played in years. Graphics:***** Gameplay:***** Storyline:*** (Does flip-flop around a bit) Overall Rating:****and a half (you cant do half stars on keyboards anymore.) A couple of glitches but nothing to serious. My favourate being if you look at yourself (Riddick) in a mirror then activate eye-shine his goggles dont move, so in theroy your using eyeshine with your goggles down. Read more
