See less19 Comments War. What is it good for? A clichéd intro that you've read millions of times before, a part-time hobby for a president with an itchy trigger finger and a song that you've heard dropped into trying-to-be-hip films one too many times, that's what. So here's the real question. War. What is it bad for? Read more
A lost diary. The lost diary of Private Miller. September 10th 1945 It's been an uneventful but wet and soggy first day in camp. Spirits are high and the boys have been larking about as usual. Some of them have taken to passing around pinup postcards with Jinx Falkenburg and Betty Grable in particular, raising the temperature considerably. Read more
However, in contrast to last year’s effort, none of the game’s high points are as memorable, and in addition, quite a few of the gunfights start to border on routine as you get further into the game. For that reason, combined with the selection of other erratic blemishes named above, World at War is a notably less appealing game. Read more
It's easy to be impressed by World at War. It's a game designed for maximum initial impact and, while it wobbles along the way, it delivers precisely the sort of carefully stage-managed carnage that fans will expect. The addition of a robust and varied co-op option helps to mitigate the disappointment of the by-the-numbers traditional multiplayer modes. However, looking back to Kristan's review review of Call of Duty 3 you'll find the exact same complaints being raised... Read more
Since Electronic Arts released Medal of Honor years ago, first-person shooters and World War II have stuck like bread to butter. But in recent times, the conflict – as a setting for video games – has become somewhat dry. You can only drop so many virtual Nazis before the feeling becomes old. Indeed, since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare landed last year, storming the trenches of Normandy has never seemed so far away. Nonetheless, to the bemusement of many, Activision... Read more
Am I missing something here? Graphics = 9 Durability = 8 Sound = 8 Gameplay = 7 Overall = 7?????? Shouldn't the overall rating be an 8? Read more
This game is very great. It has really good graphics and it is very fun to play. There are a lot of maps (including Nazi Zombies,) and you can buy new ones for multiplayer. The four levels make it so that anyone with little or a lot of experience can play. You can also censor the language and the blood down. I would definitely reccommend this game! Read more
I played Call of Duty 2 and was given a great WWII game in the same general vein as Medal of Honor---that is, a PG-13/Moderate R type war with an emphasis on glory and America Eff Yeah glory. World at War is far more like a pulp comic take on it, but without the sleaze associated with such genres. Gore is a major factor now, including such heinously realistic things as mounted machine guns severing limbs, blood is up in your face, and stuff gets sickeningly real very... Read more
A lot of people dont enjoy this game and thats because they compare it to COD 4 and i find this understandable although I dont agree with it. World at War isn't ment to share anything with COD 4 exept that its a first person shooter. The graphics are good, not the best, but still good. They have created a really nice feel to the game with the old guns they've used that make it very realistic. The levels are also very engaging and fun because they are realsitic and feel... Read more
