Netgear WGR614

The Netgear WGR614 is a wireless G-router that is good for surfing the Internet, email and online chats. It is 28mm x 175mm x 118mm (1.1in x 6.9in x 4.7in) in dimension with an average weight of 0.26 kg or 0.57 lbs. It is equipped with a static routing with TCP/IP, VPN pass-through (IPSec, L2TP), NAT, PPTP, PPPoE, DHCP for the client and the server.

The Netgear WGR614 works with most Internet gaming and instant mesagging application out there. It automatically detects the user’s ISP type, exposed host or DMZ, MAC address authentication, URL content filtering and even the Internet activity logs. Besides that, it also is equipped with a stateful packet inspection (SPI) and DoS attack protection to protect the user against any hackers. It has a 2ddBi antenna and uses a 12.0V DC, 1.0A power adapter. The Netgear WGR614 comes with a 1 year warranty. In addition to that, the Netgear WGR614 supports network speed from 1 up to 54Mbps which is automatically rated. The Netgear WGR614 has a 802.11b modulation type that supports DSSS, CCK, DBPSK and a 802.11g that supports BPSK, QPSK, 16QAM and 64QAM.The WAN interfaces in the Netgear WGR614 uses a 10/100Mbps (auto-sensing) Ethernet, RJ-45 while it uses a 4 ports 10/100Mbps (suto-sensing) Ethernet, RJ-45 for the LAN interfaces. To function as efficiently as possible the Netgear WGR614 uses a WEP encryption along with a WPA-PSK and a WPA2-PSK. When bought, the Netgear WGR614 comes together with a setup CD, a power adapter, an ethernet cable, a vertical stand and a warranty/support information card to provide users with much information on the product purchased.

    We have been unable to connect after installing the disc on a laptop pc. The congratulation page appeared but did not say what to do next. After removing the ethernet cable, the connection was lost. My dad thinks we should have used a desktop pc to install the software, and then switched on the laptop to establish a wireless connection. Is he correct?
