This wireless adapter has up to 14 times faster speeds and 6 times farther range than 802.11g while staying backward compatible with 802.11g networks. The DWA-556 allows user to share a high-speed Internet connection, photos, files, music, videos, printers as well as storage when connected. It is powered by Xtreme N technology and possesses three external antennas, to provide wireless reception to the home or the office. It is designed for use in larger homes and offices, or for users running multiple bandwidth-intensive applications. It nables users to simultaneously receive and make Internet phone calls (VoIP), surf the Web, transfer files, and stream High-Definition (HD) media. This can all be done when connected to an Xtreme N Gigabit Router (DIR-655 or DIR-660). In terms of security support, the DWA-556 uses WPA™ and WPA2™ encryption to create a secure wireless network. Apart from that, the adapter comes with the the D-Link’s Quick Adapter Setup Wizard to guide users step-by-step through the installation process thus, allowing users to configure the device without having to call a network expert. Its wireless frequency ranges between 2.4GHz and 2.4835GHz. The device is designed to work with computers that have Windows Vista® (32-bit only), Windows® XP SP2 or Windows 2000 SP4, a CD-ROM Drive, a 20MB Hard Disk Space• and most importantly, one PCI Express Slot. In addition to this, it requires a cable or a DSL modem, a wireless router and a subscription to an Internet Service Provider (ISP). The DWS-556 comes with a oney year limited warranty.

    it is a very good wifi card would recommend to all my freinds who use wi fi cards coz it beats all the other wifi cards i have used. it just doesnt fit in most of the older computers like my younger brothers computers. but it is still the best wifi card i have ever used and it is cheaper than most of the slower wi fi cards Read more
