The device helps the user share a high-speed Internet connection, photos, files, music, as well as printers. It is powered by RangeBooster N technology and can be used in both the home and office. When it is connected to a RangeBooster N Router (DIR-625), users can make Internet phone calls (VoIP), have responsive network gaming, surf the web securely, experience faster file transfers and enhanced audio streaming, and increse the wireless coverage in larger homes and offices. Dfor security purposes, the DWA-140 supports WPA™ and WPA2™ encryption. In addition to that, the device comes with the D-Link’s Quick Adapter Setup Wizard to guide users step-by-step through the installation process. This allows them to configure the USB adapter on their own. Besides that, the D-link Wireless Manager is also inlcuded to assist users in keeping track of their most frequently accessed networks. Its wireless frequency range is set between 2.4 GHz and 2.462 GHz. It also has specified operating temperatures,which are between 0° to 40° C. The range booster works with computers that have Windows Vista®(32-bit only), Windows® XP SP2 or Windows 2000 SP4, a CD-ROM Drive, a 20MB Hard Disk Space and a USB Port. For Internet access, it requires a cable or DSL modem, a wireless router and a subscription to an Internet Service Provider (ISP). The DWA-140 comes with a one year limited warranty.

I bought one of these when I got fed up with the Belkin wireless we had in my husband's laptop. We gave up trying to use it wirelessly, plugged his laptop into the modem and moved the PC, using it with this external wireless adapter The Belkin was half the price (laptop wireless adapter) but only had an excellent signal in the same room as the router.
