It starts out in a small village called Kamiki Village which had been cursed by the legendary monster Orochi which made all the affected areas a dreadful, barren wasteland. The land is now infested with countless monsters roaming the earth and can only be saved by a majestic, wolf-embodied sun god, Amaterasu.
The history of Amaterasu and Orochi goes a hundred years back, when Amaterasu used the godly power, the Celestial Brush, to fight Orochi and they managed to kill each other at the same time, resulting in Amaterasu losing thirteen Celestial Brush powers. In this game, Amaterasu accidentally meets a mysterious fairy sprite named Issun, and together they set out on an adventure with the aim to regain the thirteen powers of the Celestial Brush, exterminate the monsters plaguing the land and restore peace back on earth. The game features innovative game play and control scheme optimized for the Wii. To defeat monsters, players require both motion-controlled physical attacks as well as the use of the Wii Remote as Amaterasu’s ‘Celestial Brush’ to paint the desired power for decimating the enemies and solving puzzles. The game also allows players to create and destroy at will, where players play as a ‘god’ to re-establish order and beauty to the world laid barren by evil. Players also enjoy intense action-packed battles while fighting against a variety of demons and monsters, all rooted in Japanese folklore. In addition to the Celestial Brush, players can also wield three types of offensive weaponry of different abilities and effects in view of utilizing various gameplay styles. The graphics of this game are of original visuals and revolutionary design, of which the vibrant and inspiring graphics, reminiscent of traditional Japanese art created on paper scrolls, produce a large variety of stages with a watercolour-esque appearance.

Okami is a beautifully presented, supremely playable, wonderfully original game that's well worth purchasing. What's more, it lasts a fair time too; you should get somewhere between twenty and forty hours from it. Perhaps its biggest problem is the competition - Zelda isn't exactly a terrible game, after all, but most Wii owners have probably completed it by now. The great thing about Okami is that it hasn't slavishly copied the Zelda formula; although there are... Read more
One of the must have games on the Wii!! The graphics are solid and beautiful throughout the game; not once did I find the graphics ugly. It cries out 'Zelda' all the way through, but this isnt a bad thing. Okami has taken what is good in Zelda, and created something fresh and addicting. Brilliant characters, interesting plot and amazing attention to detail - if you dont want this game, you shouldnt have a wii :P Read more
