The characters in this game include travis Touchdown, Sylvia Christel who single-handedly arranges all ranking battles, Holy Summers, United Assassin’s Association (UAA)’s 6th ranked assassin, Shinobu, UAA’s 8th ranked assassin, Doctor Naomi who developed the Tsubaki series of beam katanas that Travis uses, Thunder Ryu who is Travis’ master in sword techniques and hand-to-hand combat, Destroy Man, UAA’s 7th ranked assassin, Dr. Peace, Uaa’s 9th ranked assassin as well as a corrupt detective, Randall Lovikov, a drunken old man who is Travis’ indirect master and Bad Girl whose targets find a nice contrast between her distinct Lolita fashion and bloodstained baseball bat.

Review Summary

No More Heroes is the story of Travis Touchdown who lives in Santa Destroy, California. Due to some unexpected circumstances, Travis is confronted by the head hunter of an assassins’ organisation. Travis must defeat ten other bloodthirsty killers to become the best. With the Wii Remote spectacular wrestling moves become easy. No More Heroes is mainly a love and hate story with plenty of action and intrigue. It also features plenty of rewards, making the combats exciting. Many reviewers find themselves enthralled by the joyous, stylized action and awesome performance. They find the motion controls to be awesome and they like the concept of the story with its weird characters, drama and humor. You are armed with a weapon of your choice which you can upgrade. After a fight, you can unlock two new missions. Some reviewers find that the missions are almost identical. However the difference lies in the ways you fight with the enemy in each mission. There are plenty of small details and gameplay detours to keep you going. The visuals are amazing with highlights in its clean textures and animations. The combats are stylish and the dialogue is just too good. No More Heroes is dark, engaging and entertaining. Most gamers find that the fantastic combat is an enough reason to play again and again.

If the game sounds somewhat bizarre, that’s because it is. However, it is definitely not a case of style over substance. Every element of the game provides players with a unique and delightful experience and deserves to be sampled by anyone tired of the usual suspects. There can be no more complaints from gamers looking for a unique experience when gems such as this are out there to be sampled. Miss it at your peril. Read more

Some might knock it for being more straightforward than expected, but its style and sense of humour turn a simple slash 'em up into something genuinely enjoyable. Read more

The game title, of which many of you may never have heard of, has not much of a relevance to the game itself. It was created by Suda51 who also created Killer 7, so you can expect the same strange way of playing and off track storyline. You play as "Travis Touchdown", a noobie assassin who finds himself 11th on the United Assassins Association's League of hit men after assassinating someone to get some more money in his pocket. From this point on he is forced to climb... Read more

No More Heroes is a game with a unique sense of style. It draws from varied, even dispirit sources such as Star Wars, 8bit games, anime, luchador wrestling and act as a homage, parody, satire of these various sources. The game swings dramatically in style putting together almost contradictory, with interface elements that resemble an 8bit game placed on top of slick cel shaded graphics. It mixes drama and tragedy with humour and fourth wall breaking in the same breath.... Read more

The game is interesting, albeit somewhat bizarre at times. The sword game play makes good use of the Wiimote and while it may seem repetitive, the actual game play will prevent you from actually focusing on the wild arm waving you are actually doing. The violence is over the top, borderline cartoony so it is probably fine for anyone who would not be bothered by an R rated movie or anime style violent scene. Not so much graphic as just copious with the blood. Read more

No More Heroes was developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and published by Ubisoft, Rising Star games and Marvelous Interactive. It was released on January 22 2008 in the states and on February 8 2008 in Canada. It was written and directed by Suda 51 (killer 7 ring any bells) and is one of the best mature titles on the Wii so far. As many fans of the game might know NMH2 is currently a working title and will be released for the early part of 2010. No More Heroes is a third... Read more

it's a unique game.. if you like blood, fast paced action, manga/anime, dark humor and go on... the game in normal difficulty is not too long.. but when you change it to the hardest difficulty.. that's a big challenge.. the voice acting is great, and the cinematic cutscenes make the game.. FOR THIS PRICE IS A STEAL! buy it... warning, the sandbox part kinda sucks.. but it doesn't break the game at all.. Read more
