Mushroom Men - The Spore Wars

The Mushroom Men - The Spore Wars gives players the opportunity to jump into the fantastic microcosm that is the backyard battlefield. Take control of the crusade, creating devastating weapons from everyday items and teaming up with other sentient plant forms that will leave the enemy sliced and diced. Let the stylus be your rapier and use the Wii Remote as a bazooka as you cut down the multitude of household pests that threaten our existence. Mushroom Men inhabit the world that goes on while we humans are looking the other way, in the twilight hours when we sleep. We tower above them and go about our business completely unaware of the war waged at our feet. After the comet had passed, the scientists concluded that the strange, green dust had no effect on the world. No one noticed that tiny plants and fungi were acting strangely. Mushrooms, cacti, flowers and vines had awakened to full consciousness. Tribes quickly formed, building plant and fungi nations and with nation building plus declaration of war against human. Mushroom Men shows gamers the mundane world from the surreal perspective of a three inch high Mushroom Man.

Features

The Mushroom Men - The Spore Wars is a unique straightforward 3D action platform game with beautiful graphics, wonderful sound and interesting background story. Players can explore and battle their way through more than 10 lush and spooky levels in an oversized and hostile world. The story begins when meteorite enters Earth’s atmosphere, so small that it mostly fractures and burns out. This cause the world to suddenly change and mushrooms evolve into sentient beings that walk and talk. For many mushroom species with self-awareness also comes war. They fight to control the meteorite chunks that gave them their new life and skirmishes break out in many places. Away from all that, a single spore travels on the wind and eventually ends up in a peaceful mushroom colony where he learns he’s not like other mushrooms – he can absorb chunks of meteorite. Embarrassed about the fact that he just absorbed the holy stone of another species, Pax sets off on a journey to find out what is happening to him. You will find junk humans have lost or thrown away and put it together to make many of the game’s brilliant weapons, such as slashing weapon called Occam’s Razor, or a bashing weapon called Beat ‘em Down Scottie. In short, there are four types of weapons and certain weapons work better against certain types of creatures. Player can also take on the fast paced single-player adventure or bring a friend in Super Mario Galaxy style Cooperative mode and the Spore-based powers take advantage of unique Wii controls. Player’s health is determined by your mushroom cap where it visually shows the state you are in. If you are in full health, it’s full, but as you get hurt it starts looking like someone took bites out of it. Your mushroom cap also doubles up as a shield. Throughout the game player can gain special abilities which are then used to further your advance. For example, you gain a Sticky Hand ability which you can use to reach far away places. As you scan your screen looking for hiding paths, the pointer will occasionally change shape indicating you can use a special ability, providing your spore power meter is full enough. You can refill your spore power by absorbing more of the meteorite dust. It also recharges slowly over time. The Mushroom Men - The Spore Wars Nintendo Wii game comes with product dimension weight of 8 ounce and it was released on the 2nd December 2008, plus it comes with ESRB rating of Everyone (E) with age rating of 10+ consist of description Mild Fantasy Violence and Animated Blood.

If you don't care to hunt down every last hidden item, you can breeze through Mushroom Men in less than five hours. The short length, poor camera, and mostly generic gameplay prevent this game from reaching the potential that the presentation implies. Nevertheless, Mushroom Men is a promising start to what could be an interesting franchise. If you're in the mood for a stylish platformer, and you don't mind putting up with a few setbacks, you'll have a good time with... Read more

Half-baked mushrooms that won’t provide a high. It's always nice to see a new studio come up with a game that isn't a sequel or cheap cash-in of an existing brand. Actually, let me correct myself. It's nearly always nice. Sadly despite featuring some artistic style, and one of the best soundtracks available in any Wii game, Mushroom Men plays like a game where the developer has spent too much time coming up with the concept and setting, and not enough on the actual... Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars is a game of two extremes. On the one side you have the competent and safe but largely forgettable gameplay, and on the other you have the superb visuals, outstanding art design and unforgettable audio. In honesty, with so few core titles available on the Wii at the moment, I would suggest that anyone who’s interested in a bit of no frills platforming action give this title a go – the care and attention lavished upon Mushroom Men’s... I purchased this game after reading favorable reviews, but I wish I had been able to play it first. It's a bit simplistic and just didn't hold my attention. Maybe I'm older than the target audience. Regardless, it's been relegated to the bottom of the wii game stack. Read more

I love this game...went to play for an hour ....and realized I had been playing for 3....it is not extreemly difficult but it gets harder as you go.(I heve not beat it yet) It says 2 player's..it is one primary player and player 2 just helps make spores to keep player 1 alive. One of the best parts..if your a Les Claypool fan...he plays all the music in the game...good stuff. Read more
