In this game, the Wii Remote is transformed into a steering wheel for players to cruise along in brand-new tracks and arenas. Alternatively, players can enjoy a blast from the past going fender-to-fender on one of the classics. The Mario Kart Wii gives you a choise to race not only in a kart, but a motorbike as well.
The Mario Kart Wii allows up to four players locally or challenge up to 12 players via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in Mario Kart races. All tracks and modes of play are available for online races. Players can also check regional and worldwide stats, friend rankings, download ghost data and participate in worldwide Time Trial events by visiting the Mario Kart Channel on the Wii Menu. In Mario Kart Wii, players can choose a wide selection of trademark Mario characters including Mario, Donkey Kong, Wario, Koopa Troopa, Toad, Yoshi, Baby Peach, Bowser, Waluigi, Baby Mario, Peach and Luigi. While racing, players can use items such as banana(vehicles that roll over bananas will spin out), star (increases your speed and makes you temporarily invincible), spiny shell (finds the first-place vehicle and makes it flip or spin out), red shell (tracks the nearest vehicle in front and flips it), pow block (shakes the ground so that opponents will spin out and drop any items they were holding), mushroom (gives vehicle a quick speed boost), mega mushroom (temporarily lets you speed up as a giant and flatten everything in your way) and lightning cloud (hovers ominously as you await their imminent lightning bolt) to help them dominate the track. Among the courses available in Mario Kart Wii are Mushroom Cup, Flower Cup, Shell Cup and Banana Cup. Players have to place first in the mentioned cups to open increasingly difficult circuits.

When all is said and done the sheer fun factor that emanates from all Mario Kart games is alive and well in this iteration. If you’re intent upon buying it for some solid multiplayer action (on or offline), then you will not be disappointed. However, it should be noted that those pinning their hopes on just single player exploits may grow tired quicker than first expected. However, you can always fall back to having fun with time trial if you want to focus on some... Read more

Previously, power sliding would give racers a small boost of power, but in Mario Kart Wii there are all kinds of ways to get an extra boost. You can still power slide around a corner to get a boost, but now you can also perform stunts mid-jump to get a boost on landing. Performing stunts is straight forward, with a quick jerk of the Wii-wheel shortly after taking off over a jump setting a random stunt off. It’s a pretty cool addition and it adds another technique to... Read more

This is a very good game which appeals to the whole family. As a Mario fan, it was inevitable that this was going to be the next addition to my catalogue of Wii games, and I am very pleased to own it! The wheel which comes with this game is, as usual, well-built and of the usual Nintendo affordable but high-quality standard. It is easy to use with the game, though multi-playing is also available if you have a Nunchuk or a legacy controller, allowing immediate offline... Read more

I bought this game before it got sold out, and I'm very pleased with it! There is an incredible array of options to choose from, even playing online and with 2 players!!! So far and only form my own 3 day old experience the novelty of this wii version lies in: - the different rides (bikes and old cars amongst others like prams!!); -characters (baby characters!); -the spectacular new weapons you can use; -up to 12 racers at one time (instead of 8 in the N64) -the new...
