Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time for Wii places you in the shoes of a hero at the start of a fantastical journey crammed with danger and adventure. The boring puzzles that constantly interrupt the game's momentum are a shame, and a greater variety of dungeons would have made the experience richer, but these aren't enough to defeat the game's better elements altogether. The initial quest may take you about 15 hours on your first go, but you can keep developing your characters and advancing into higher difficulty levels after that. Despite Echoes of Time's flaws, fans of dungeon-crawling, hack-and-slash action may be... Read more
Dungeon hacking. So, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicle Echoes of Time, henceforth referred to as EoT so as not to wear out my keyboard, is the latest in Square Enix's line of more action oriented RPGs. Read more
Another day, another Final Fantasy. That might seem a bit harsh, but it’s true. The latest entry into the franchise to hit shelves and hope to make its way into our homes is a new Crystal Chronicles game, entitled Echoes of Time. Square-Enix have released the game on two platforms: Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii, but what is truly intriguing is that the two actually communicate with each other, allowing you to play multiplayer co-op with up to three other players who own... Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time is a great dungeon crawling game that is not only superior to its predecessor, but one of the best titles on the Nintendo DS . The same certainly cannot be said about its console counterpart: practically identical to the DS outing, the console version is nothing but a quick cash-in for Square Enix. At the end of the day, it shouldn’t be difficult to see that the Nintendo DS version is certainly the way to go if you’re... Read more
Apart from the odd dual-screen setup, Echoes of Time is a fun little RPG that quickly draws you in with its cute little SNES-like heroes and monsters. It never gets bogged down in the spell/weapon details like, say, Sacred Angel, and the multiplayer mode makes it all the more addictive. Read more
If you look at FFCC on the GC, there was a great transition to the DS with FFCCROF. Visuals had to be sacrificed, but all in all, great visuals for the DS. FFCC on the GC boasted multi-player support through GBA connectivity(A mistake to use only the GBA in my opinion). FFCCROF made the transition and used the built in WiFi for connectivity via multi-player. The draw back with the DS title is that unlike the GC, multi-player took place outside of the realm of storyline.... Read more
This game has a dual screen format that cannot be turned off. You have a main screen where your character is during gameplay and another screen with the spells to cast etc.. So say a monster comes up and you need to cast a spell you have to figure out which color spell orb to click on on the non play screen and then go back to focusing on the main screen to fight. It makes it very hard to play. I love final fantasy games and even was a fan of the Chocobo game for Wii,... Read more
