The Wii Remote and Nunchuk is used to order tropps around the battlefield and the controls change depending on what unit you’re commanding as well as the environment you’re fighting in.

Features

Under Gaining Command of the Land, you play as a soldier. The controls are simple and intuitive; mainly comprising of aiming the Wii Remote and moving with the Control Stick. To perform combat rolls, simply tilt the Nunchuk. You can even command and control the tanks and recon vehicles to help you rule the land. As for Owning the Ocean and Seizing the Seas, you can order a submarine to submerge by shaking the Nunchuk. To rupture hulls when facing an enemy sub, fire a depth charge by controlling a frigate. Under air, you get to experience new controls and new heights. Twist the Wii Remote along with your turns to outmaneuver your opponents. Adjust your altitude by pointing up or down and title the Nunchuk to barrel roll to safety when you feel pressure from incoming enemy fire.

Battalion Wars 2 is as the name suggests a war game with plenty of incredible action. It features a superior single-player battle, as well as online play for owners of Nintendo’s elusive Wii. Battalion Wars 2 depicts the tale of two wars, a previous conflict and an ongoing one. It is about the Xylvanians telling one nation that another nation is building a superweapon, and taking advantage of the turbulent chaos and distraction it has created, to better concentrate on their own superweapon research. To progress in the game is quite simple especially with the Wii’s point-and-click control scheme, you can easily dispatch each unit type to attack what you think is best. You can also play online either together or against friends and strangers. In cooperative missions, you and your companion, each have armies, with the important units divided between each. Battalion Wars 2 features naval units, which are like tanks on the water. You have your battleship, frigates, and submarines. The submarines can dive under water, which make them invisible to battleships, but can be seen by frigates or other subs. The presentation of Battalion Wars 2 is excellent with crisp and clear graphics, the water looks wet. The voice acting, the action, and the sound track are all good. However some reviewers find that the story and the artificial intelligence is too simple.

Pros & Cons

  • intuitive control system, lag free, plenty of action, it s, fantastic production values
  • the story is, still strategy lite, rather repetitive and simple, poor storytelling, not enough content

As a game that can be approached in so many different ways and on so many levels, Battalion Wars 2 should appeal to anyone who likes a bit of good old-fashioned strategic action. Read more

Anyway, BWii is a substantial improvement on the original: better-paced, a bit funnier and with the much-needed addition of online multiplayer. Serious warmongers should stick to games with realistic explosions and greater tactical depth, but if you're in the mood for a varied, good-hearted third-person blaster with a few strategic elements rather than a gritty combat simulator, you'll have a few greatly entertaining evenings with this. When the original Battalion Wars was released on the GameCube a couple of years ago, it was, for the most part, a critical success. Being likened to the handheld tactical warfare of Advance Wars on the Nintendo DS, Battalion Wars brought the battles into 3D and allowed players to not only command their troops and give them orders on how to attack, but also let the player take physical control of a unit of their choice and attack the opposition first-hand. It was a fun... Read more

Battalion Wars Wii is ultimately a sequel that doesn’t do enough to make a good series great. The visuals are nice, missions are the right length, and there have been a couple of enhancements in the form of extra units and an online multiplayer mode. However, the distinct lack of offline multiplayer is a significant downside, and disjointed gameplay mechanics makes its description as a 'tactical' action game fit like a pair of clown pants on a size zero model. If you... Read more

Strategy games often fail to make an impact on consoles so it’s no surprise that Kuju added a little bit of shooter based action to Battalion Wars when they released it on the GameCube back in 2005, and after being a fairly successful mix, the series returns with Battalion Wars 2 making an appearance on the Wii. Battalion Wars 2 is a featherweight action strategy game from Nintendo that involves wars as you would have guessed from my title (sorry about the pun). It's a sequel to Battalion Wars which was released on the Gamecube. Battalion Wars 2 preserves many of its prequel's gameplay elements but there are subtle changes, not to mention a new storyline and a great online multiplayer mode. Graphics The graphics in general are crisp and clear. The backgrounds are well-rendered... Read more
