The Olympus DS-50 is part of a new production of digital voice recorder which is intended for creating and listening to Podcasts. It carries the weight of 80g including bundled ME53S microphone and alkaline batteries. Its dimension sets at 111mm x 37.5mm x 16mm. The recording format for the Olympus DS-50 is WMA and it is equipped with a built-in 1GB flash memory as the recording media. Its recording time ranges depends on the 5 recording modes offered. For STEREO XQ and STEREO HQ, it can record for 17 hours 30 minutes and 35 hours 10 minutes, respectively. HQ mode and SP mode has the recording time of 70 hours 20 minutes and 138 hours 30 minutes while LP mode is in capable of recording up to 275 hours 20 minutes. The recorder is integrated with a clip-on stereo microphone which will pick up both sides of a conversation. It has a 26mm x 25mm LCD screen and two colors of LED, red for recording and green for playback. Besides internal power supply by using two AAA batteries it is also ready with external power supply. It has 100% compatible sound card and a 23 mm diameter round dynamic speaker. The recorder is operated in Intel Pentium II class 333 MHz processor or more and 128 MB RAM or more.

Features

The Olympus DS-50 can easily record at CD quality and connects to any personal computer with an USB cable. It is able to playback MP3 and WMA files which allows it to double as an audio book reader and music player. Besides that, the recorder has the feature that allows the visually impaired ones to use it with convenience. The buttons are designed in a way that makes them more identifiable by touch. It contains a music folder that enables downloading of WMA and MP3 music files using Windows Media Player. 1GB of memory is integrated in the Olympus DS-50 which is able to grasp around 275 hours of audio at average quality.
