Summary: My parents always had a Miele and when I moved into my own home I had two cheaper hoover, including a Vax which lost suction after 6 months. Finally bough a proper Miele: totally worth the money!
Summary: Love this cleaner. I have a mixture of wood floors, tiles and rugs, and it works brilliantly on all. bag lasts ages. nice compact compartment for tools. Los of power settings. Can't really fault it other than cable could be a little longer.
Summary: After having tried a bagless vacuum cleaner (not a Dyson, I shall add) I decided to go back to a bagged vacuum. After extensive research and advice from friends I decided to go for the Miele power plus S5211. So far so good (I have only had it for about 3 weeks), a long retractable cable and great suction power BUT it is very heavy and hard to carry it up two flight of stairs (I am in my mid forties and pretty fit).
Summary: I've always known this was the best hoover. As an ex cleaner I've cleaned some big houses and when visiting 2 of my clients (separate jobs) I would use their Miele S5211 and leave my red smiley face hoover in the car. (with my client's blessing of course). I always promised myself that I would buy one for myself when I found a better paid job so I did. Just like the other reviews I cannot fault this hoover's performance.
Summary: That's the best vacuum cleaner I tried till now. Very powerful, long cable, works on both carpet and linoleum/parquet, the bags lasts about 2 months (on a carpet floor, cleaning a one bedroom flat once per week, so it's easily more than that without a carpet). This doesn't overheat even with extensive usage. Very safe and solid. I recommend it!
Summary: I bought this to replace another Miele which, although maintaining excellent suction, had started to fall apart a bit. This was probably due more to my rough handling rather than its construction. This vacuum is even more powerful than the last (by 400 watts), but the amount of suction is easily controlled depending on the type of surface on which it is used. It also has a quieter setting which I probably won't need to make much use of, but it's nice to have the option.
Summary: Have used bag free vacuum cleaners in the last ten years. Was not pleased with any of them. Going back to bagged ones now . This one feels solid. It is a pleasure to use. Look forward to vacuum cleaning the house now. Brilliant suction. I am using it for dusting around doors as well as good brushes. The front pipe clicks nicely into the horse. Not noisy.
Summary: Context: the moneyed English of Chelsea and Fulham only seem to buy German cars (or Range Rovers) and they all seem to buy Miele household and white goods, vacuum cleaners being no exception. There must be a message there. Our Vax expired after 3 years and I got fed up with its plasticky parts breaking (even though the fundamental design was good) and filter covers falling off, so we decided to go for German - Bosch or Miele and the latter won, just.
