Excerpt: Maybe I should give this a 5 star rating....it really cleans very well. There are 3 things that I don't like: the cord is too short; I would prefer the on/off switch be in the handle and operated by hand rather than my foot; there needs to be a place in or on the sweeper to store the floor brush when I am using the power brush, so that I have it immediately available, just like the other tools.
Summary: Recently I purchased my second Miele, a Delphi from BB&B. After considerable time shopping for vacs, I focused in again on Miele but knowing which model to choose was another challenge. After much reading, speaking with Miele CS and trying out a few at a vacuum store I realized that the Delphi was the best model to choose. Of the four S2 models, it is one of two that have an electric powered head, an important consideration with pets.
Summary: I spent three days shopping for a vacuum at dealers, online dealers and with miele customer service. After deciding on a canister, I narrowed it down to Panasonic and Miele.I purchased this model from BB&B. The Mieles are MUCH quieter. Miele is hard to shop as they have so many "kits". Basically, BB&B carries their full entry S2 lineup. The Delphi is the best kit and I will tell you why. First, they are all the same model but a different color.
Summary: Great vacuum for my 1800 square foot home with all hard floors and a few low pile area rugs. I chose this over the Olympus model because it comes with the parquet floor tool and the turbo brush. The turbo brush works great on my rugs and the parquet tool works great on my hard floors.
Summary: I remember the "good old days" when a quality canister vacuum cleaner can be purchased for under $100. I bought a Eureka. When that broke down after several years of usage, I graduated to a Royal Power Tank with a 4.5 hp motor. I once witnessed a demonstration of its powerful suction. A dust bag fill with sand was inverted ninety degrees - not one sand particle dropped to the floor. . I purchased two through the years. The first lasted over 25 years.
Summary: It is a great vacuum, it work very nicely but... The electric hose is heavier than he non electric one and significantly heavier. My arm gets tired more quickly. I got a canister to avoid having a heavy weight on my arm, but his one is heavier than expected.
Summary: The rotating brush tool doesn't work on my (1/8 inch pile) carpets; it jams and doesn't spin. Then, after three months, the telescoping wand broke (won't latch) so it's effectively useless. The warranty is crap too... the "7 years" thing is only for the motor & casing (not parts which break), and they will only service vacuums bought from "Authorized Miele Dealers". Is Amazon an authorized Miele dealer? NO ONE KNOWS.
