Panasonic Viera TX-37LZD85

The Panasonic Viera TX-37LZD85 is a 37 inch Full HD LCD HDTV that is styled in a combination of gloss black and silver. The design sports a thicker than average bezel and is complemented by a silver curved speaker bar that is fitted at the bottom of the front section.

Features

The Panasonic Viera TX-37LZD85 features 1080p HD (Blu-ray disc) which gives it a rich colour pallete and a great amount of visible detail. Besides that, it has a sharpening feature that cannot be displayed but works well against the quality of images by emphasizing the boundaries of the blocks which make up the compressed images. Inaddition to that, the Panasonic Viera TX-37LZD85 is also compatible with 24p Input and display which means that no telecine judder will be visible from Blu-ray Discs outputting in this mode, thus projecting the movie the way directors intended it to be. Additionall, the Panasonic Viera TX-37LZD85 also has standard definition integrated Freeview digital television. As for video features, the images output from the Panasonic Viera TX-37LZD85’s built-in DVB tuner are treated a little differently than those sent to the AV inputs. Besides that, they are also treated to MPEG Noise reduction which can’t be disabled. Other than that, the Panasonic Viera TX-37LZD85 also has “Game Mode” to lessen the lag in game playing, giving better responsiveness and a better game feel.

As one of the most accomplished 37in LCD TV's currently available, the TX37LZD85 also provides a realistic alternative to 40/42in plasmas as well as LCD TV's. The TX37LZD85 like the 32in model, stands out from the crowd with a strong performance in virtually every area. Read more

Exceptional competition, not least from its TH-37PX80B sibling, means the ‘LZD85 has dropped a star – it’s still at the top of the four-star pile though Read more

Extensive connectivity Where some rival sets can seem a connectivity desert, this Panny, in comparison, is a socket-spattered Amazonian jungle. It's almost over-adorned with the regular jacks, ports and inputs, including three HDMIs that are v1.3 compliant. Read more

The Panasonic TX37LZD85 Buy this for £774.99 at Dixons Use code ' SAVE25 ' to get £25 off Then code ' DELTV ' for free delivery is a difficult LCD HDTV to review, because how much you like it will depend upon your tolerance to what are essentially inaccuracies in the pictures it produces. Panasonic's designers appear to be targeting customers who would be intimidated by a huge array of picture tweaks, who would feel more comfortable with a lower number of... Read more

We've now had our TX-37LZD85 for a month, and we're very pleased with it. The picture quality playing PS3 games and Blu-Ray discs is absolutely stunning, although there are some issues - as there always are - with fast, complex or low quality standard def images. Colour contrast is strong (occasionally a bit too strong). There is some fringeing around the edges of, for instance, footballers and athletes, and the TV had problems with the water during the Olympic rowing.... Read more

Having owned this TV from launch and now that it is properly run in I can comfortably comment on its pros and cons.  It does not suffer from the noise as reported by What Hifi however the front screen is quite hot when switched off at night.  It does highlight and amplify SD/Terrestial picture quality and is not as forgiving as the previous LCD 37 inch best buy.  When treated to the format it was designed for (HD) from the excellent BD30 Blu-Ray Player, upscaling DVDs...
