Pros & Cons

  • art design, superior sound, stunning picture quality, picture definition, just about everything
  • unfriendly menu functionality, wish i had 2, less than user, friendly functions

Loewe’s latest LCD TV has both style and substance, in glorious abundance. Loewe’s Concept L32 not only looks awesome but also performs in a manner that will shame the more expensive alternatives. A beautifully designed and well equipped screen that offers perfect picture performance for a price that is a lot lower than you might imagine is what you are in for if you are planning to buy this beauty. It is HDTV Ready and has an integrated digital tuner.

The only drawback probably is the fact that it has less than user-friendly functions as far as the menus go. Its unique operational system might be a bit frustrating, but the picture and sound performance is absolutely outstanding. The image quality is nothing short of sensational; deep blacks and vividly bold colours create solid pictures that stand out amongst similarly priced peers. Especially when using the HDMI connection, detail is amazingly intricate exposing even the slightest subtleties in tones and textures while excellent contrast levels make it possible to view images another dimension. There however are, at least with DVD images, a few of the picture disturbances that normally prey on large sized LCD screens. Its sound quality isn’t ignored either with surprising expressive detail and power for a pair of integrated TV speakers.

Aptly befitting a fashion-conscious screen, the complementary remote is suitably stylish too. The tall, tapered design is pleasantly weighty, with comfortable controls sporting a chrome-effect central cursor that is easily within thumb’s reach. Auto Volume prevents the sound increasing during advert breaks; the choice of picture and sound settings is standard, although there are a few useful extra-curricular settings. Digital channels are accompanied by an impressive electronic programme guide (EPG). This stylish 32-inch LCD is also equipped with future-proof high-definition compatibility and integrated Freeview.

With TV pictures, analogue stations are subject to reception and can appear coarse and unstable. But digital programmes are colourful and controlled with only movement occasionally causing a problem. And sound quality isn't ignored either with surprising weight and expressive detail for a pair of integrated TV speakers. Read more

Loewe's Concept L32 is a rarity -- a style-influenced product that performs as well as it looks. Its unique operational system might be frustrating, but picture and sound performance is ultimately outstanding. And a £300 fall in price means it's surprisingly affordable, too Read more
