The Technics SL-1200MK2 is Quartz synthesizer manual turntable designed with heavy-duty vibration-resistant construction and mechanical precision featuring a Direct Drive motor with 2-playback speed System of 33.3 RPM and 45 RPM, quartz movement for total accuracy, adjustable tone arm weights, anti-skate control, a pop-up target light and a sliding pitch control with strobe. The Hip-Hop Community calls the turntable, the "Wheel of Steel" and uses it to create the signature sound of hip-hop called "The Scratch." Due to this, the turntable has become the official turntable of 5,000-member Disco Mix Club, the largest DJ club in the world. It comes with a Gray coloured finish.

The Technics SL-1200MK2 is also known by the Hip-Hop Community as the "Wheel of Steel" and uses it to create the signature sound of hip-hop called "The Scratch." The turntable has a motor capable of continually withstanding the abuses of record gripping stops and high torque starts of 1.5 kg•cm (1.3 lb•in) that comprise Hip Hop’s infamous "Scratch". The turntable features a Motor-Ultra-low-speed brushless DC Direct-Drive motor with 2-playback speed System (33.3 RPM and 45 RPM) which is compatible to all existing records and enables user to listen to favourites from 33 RPM and 45 RPM vinyl record collections. In other word, it can play 7-inch and 12-inch singles and record albums. The motor helps maintain and reduced the number of parts that can malfunction and making consistent, accurate speeds possible for the drive capstan and belt assembly, thereby reducing wow and flutter. It has the ability to reach speed in 0.7 seconds (90° rotation) with unwavering quartz accuracy, with Wow and Flutter of 0.01% WRMS that supports the two-speed system and rumble less than 78dB (IEC 98A weighted) or less than 56 dB (IEC 98A un-weighted). It feature the Quartz phase-locked control means almost perfect accuracy of turntable rotation. With this feature, the pitch is variable continuously (analogically) by up to approximately more or less 8% range to more or less 16% range. The effects of external vibrations are dramatically reduced in the turntable by new turntable construction. The turntable is precision-made Aluminium Diecast with a diameter of 13.1-inch (33.2cm), weight of 2kg (4.4 pounds), while the underside of the main base is made of a heavy rubber material that has excellent vibration resistance and absorbing characteristics. The turntable platter is also vibration-damped with special fabricated rubber matting in the underside along with the thick turntable sheet (rubber mat). Four large-size insulating feet also help to absorb unwanted vibrations. These features make the SL-1200MK2 ideal for use with extra-high sound pressure levels. The highly sensitive S-shaped tubular arm, static-balanced type tonearm features a genuine gimbal suspension, the rotational centre of which is precisely defined at one point. Bearings are finished to a tolerance of more or less 0.5 microns, resulting to minimal friction of 7 mg (0.007g) for both horizontal and vertical movement. In addition to that, the low 12-gram effective tonearm mass (including headshell without cartridge) is also compatible with the wide range of compliances found in today’s cartridges. This tonearm is provided with a computer designed, lightweight, high-rigidity headshell made of single-piece diecast aluminium to resist partial vibration. The universal design allows headshell interchangeability, with gold-plated contacts and also adjustable arm height within a range of 6 mm to accommodate varying cartridge dimensions. It is also equipped with anti-skating force control device and oil-damped cueing device in both directions. The turntable also comes with a fully electronic braking system and a strobe illuminator. The stroboscope is controlled by the extremely stable quartz oscillator. The turntable comes with power consumption of 14 watts and power requirements of 120V, 60 Hz. The Technics SL-1200MK2 overall dimension measures at 17.84-inch (45.3cm) in width, 6.3-inch (16.2cm) in height and 14.17-inch (36cm) in depth. It weights in at 27.6 pounds (12.5 kg) and has a shipping weight of 31 pounds (14.1kg).
