    The CD-direct gives a superior and cleaner sound than if the feature is not used. The sound stage and instrumentation is pretty good but the vocals are wanting. The CD playback is relatively decent but the turntable playback is painful. Good but not great, I am having second thoughts about making this purchase. My mistake was that I bought the Yamaha AX397 without evaluating the set with a turntable. Read more
