Everything works fine but there are a few design details which were not well thought out. The worst is the location of the volume and mute controls on the remote: right in the lower right corner so you need two hands to use them. The volume increments were too large for my taste. If the volume wasn't quite high enough, one touch on the remote made the volume too loud. The angle over which the receiver can see the remote is said to be 30 degrees each side (as I recall)... Needed to replace an old receiver for a multi-room system. I'd read good review about this reciever and they were well deserved. It puts out good, clear, quality sound. I'm powereing speakers in multiple rooms with no problem. It won't absolutely blow the windows out with power, but I didn't expect or need it to. Over all a great quailty unit for the price. Like so many other reviewers, we had a stereo receiver/amp that was 20-plus years old (a JVC) that had finally given up the ghost (the left channel periodically cut out, static-y sound, the LCD display was becoming illegible, etc.). So for our 2009 Christmas present we purchased this Onkyo receiver from Amazon. Hooked it up inside of 15 minutes, put on a Best of Loggins & Messina CD, and let 'er rip. Whoa! Our bookshelf Bose speakers came to life as we hadn't heard them... Read more

I didn't want a high priced receiver for my basement since I don't use it as much as I should. I like to listen to music while I am exercising. The Onkyo suits my needs and was a really great price and I had great help from your specialists in hooking up the system. Read more

I was generally impressed with the build quality and performance of this reasonably priced amp. Constructed from quality materials that give lovely tactile feedback, its really quite nice to use and not bad to look at. Its not the most powerful amp in the world, but at this price point, its more than enough for your small bookshelf system. The clear, logical controls are both a pleasure to use and a satisfying throwback the same goes for the sound, which is clean and... Read more
