The HP Scanjet 5590 is more expensive than most SOHO flatbed scanners, but its formidable automatic document feeder justifies the price. The scanner offers unusually a good dynamic range for a flatbed scanner. Obviously with over $300, it is designed for business use with a 50-sheet, duplexing ADF to make a quick work of scanning, faxing, and copying multipage documents. The HP Scanjet 5590 also scans photos at a reasonably high quality and it even does a credible job on the slides. With a quick-start buttons on its front panel, and it also comes with a transparency adapter for scanning up to four 35mm slides or four filmstrip frames at a time.
