Review Summary

The main joy about the all-in-one Perfection V500 Photo is that it is visually cool in jet black with a silver strip around the middle. Itreviews.co.uk reported that it is using 6,400 dpi optical resolution and 3.4 optical densities, and the results produced are impressive. It is the first Charged-Coupled Device (CCD) scanner to use white LED technology which delivers faster scanning speeds, instant start-up and is low on power consumption. The upgraded software include new features such as Digital ICE Technology which removes dust and scratches from color film as well as advanced backlight correction and color correction. According to Biosmagazine.co.uk, it also comes with a USB 2.0 port. Another feature worth highlighting is the removable transparency unit for positive or negative film up to medium format. Epson’s Scan 3.2 is a driver utility that makes scanning easier with its Automatic and Home modes. The needs of the advanced user are also addressed with the Professional mode. The only comment on shortcoming is it does not come with Ethernet. Overall, this is probably the photo scanner that a lot of serious amateur photographers have been waiting for, with a wider range of photo formats, beefed-up software photo enhancements, speedier operation and high quality image reproduction. Epson’s Perfection V500 Photo has a lot going for it and is easily one of the best scanners in its price range.

Outstanding Quality film scanning with a market beating 6400 dpi optical resolution. It includes Epson’s new ReadyScan LED Technology which allows a virtually instant start-up (1 second warm up) fo…

Exelent Scanner - very fast start-up and quiet operation. Most importatny the scan quality is supurb and the high 6400 optical resolution outstrips the film resoluution. Auto exposure/colour is a bit agressive but manual adjustmets are quick and intuative. Very good value - exelent service form More as well. Read more
