Review Summary

Canon’s LiDE 25 scanners are popular due to their thinness as they use LED technology to scan images, giving high-quality images. The scanner is easy to install with the included CD and plugging in the USB cable. The CD also includes image-editing software ArcSoft PhotoStudio 5.5 and ScanSoft Omnipage SE for OCR. PhotoStudio offers basic image editing, and Omnipage enables high-quality transcriptions. It is supplied with a wizard to facilitate the job. The image quality is quite good with a 300dpi resolution, and fabulous with the highest 1200dpi setting. Scanning takes 16 seconds to preview and 60 seconds to scan an A4 page at 300dpi, but requires a longer time at 1200dpi. The images are sharp and clear. Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 allows you to scan up to 10 photographs in

one shot, depending on their size. It also features Canon's QARE Level 3 technology, which can remove scratches and dust from images and reduce graininess and colour fade. Reviewers at www.itweek.co.uk conclude
that Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 is perfect for ‘scanning simple documents and books’ making it is an excellent choice, even though it does not have lots of features but does have some extras that make the scanner worthwhile.

Slender, functional and surprisingly affordable, the 1200dpi CanoScan LiDE 25 complements any creative environment. It draws all the power it needs from its USB connection, no power adaptor require…

A few years back, £50 wouldn't buy you anything worth having in the way of a flatbed scanner. Now, though, devices like the LIDE 25 have changed the market considerably. This is a good, general-purpose scanner in a neat, small footprint, which is easy to set up and use and produces very respectable results. Read more

All in all I would rate the Lide 25 a strong 9 out of 10 for being a near perfect scanner for my needs. Not quite sure why I can't give it a 10 out of 10 but I'm just not prone to giving out 100% on many products/services! Read more

My previous scanner (Agfa SnapScan) would not operate on my new Windows XP Pro system. I needed a replacement that was inexpensive, simple to use and efficient. Having read an endorsement in a computer magazine, and later by some users, I decided to purchase this model. It installed simply without a hitch. The on-line guide is comprehensive, yet easy to follow, and becomes an excellent learn-as-you-go tool. An excellent OCR software package is included (OmniPage SE), ... Read more
