Fine for 3 years then...

  • Summary: I connect via ethernet not wifi and until now have had no problems. But recently I have had intermittent loss of connection - it would typically disappear in the evening and come back two days later in the morning! We've established it is not the phone line or ISP signal at fault. It feels very warm to the touch and I am guessing it is overheating. The ISP is sending out a new router but meanwhile I have put it on a stand to see if that helps.

  • Summary: Bought this to replace my old Netgear dg834g. It works perfectly. I really don't understand the negative reviews - this is just like having my old super-reliable dg834g, but faster and with greater wireless range. I'm delighted with it.

  • Excerpt: "...rather confusing at times. With NETGEAR being one of the dominant brands in the router market I was expecting a much more polished interface. Once I finally got the router set up (after a couple of HOURS!), I decided to test the range. I wish I hadn't. My router is in an upstairs room which is very close to the stairs themselves and the router is by the door in that room. If I go downstairs, the router signal dropped to about 20% - very poor. Even Orange, who supplied me with it, admitted to me on the phone that "The router is no good"

  • Excerpt: This router came free with my Orange Home Broadband when I was still with the company last year. My first impressions of the router was its style as I hadn't set it up yet. From this visual inspection, it looks very good. The router was a stylist black gloss with rounded edges, it was small and therefore didn't take up space on my desk.

Problems Solved

  • Summary: My router was infuriating to start with constantly losing WiFi signal every 10 minutes. I then did a firmware upgrade and vitally important a full factory reset and the unit now works fine.
