Excerpt: "...rather confusing at times. With NETGEAR being one of the dominant brands in the router market I was expecting a much more polished interface. Once I finally got the router set up (after a couple of HOURS!), I decided to test the range. I wish I hadn't. My router is in an upstairs room which is very close to the stairs themselves and the router is by the door in that room. If I go downstairs, the router signal dropped to about 20% - very poor. 1 January 2013
Summary: This router came free with my Orange Home Broadband when I was still with the company last year. My first impressions of the router was its style as I hadn't set it up yet. From this visual inspection, it looks very good. The router was a stylist black gloss with rounded edges, it was small and therefore didn't take up space on my desk.
Pros: Looks good
Cons: Poor range, incompatible with lots of services, bad setup.
Summary: I was given this router from my ISP Virgin Media and have had nothing but problems with it,firstly it drops connection all the time, secondly I cannot access most websites in a different room to the router as the wireless signal is to poor. Summary: If this device were just a bit heavier, a little more sturdy, and not quite so ugly, then it would make a perfectly servicable doorstop. Good points: Easy to set up (DSL username and password entered and it connects to the internet no trouble), and it works fine when wired. Bad points: Wireless just Does Not Work.
Summary: Had nothing but trouble with this unit from day one, gave up on the weak wireless side of it and resorted to having to plug appliances into it, had to re-set the unit at least once a week. Now the final straw is that trying to update the firmware yesterday the unit went into meltdown and refuses to connect at all, spoke to tech helpline and thankfully their sending out a different unit and he said l can take a hammer to this one. (can't wait!
Summary: Got this router that was intended as an upgrade to the faithful old DG834. What a mistake! The setup went fine and was easy enough to do, as most netgear's are. Connected via ethernet for the initial setup and didn't notice anything untoward. Set the wireless up for wpa2 and changed the wireless mode to bg for my old laptop. Connected ok, but subsequently found that browsing was ponderously slow. This was also the case on another laptop in the house.
Summary: I was given this router by Virgin in the hopes of fixing the problems i had with my previous router however ive found this one is even less reliable than my other one the wireless doesnt stay connected to the PC so i find im having to use the ethernet cable and also this proiductr doesnt seem to connect to either the xbox live servers or PSN if your lookinbg for a router for gaming or just about anything wirelessly this is not the router you want i would suggest going...
