The Onkyo TX-SR606 is a second generation Onkyo high-definition-capable receivers for home theatre that is next in line after the Onkyo TX-SR605 that was released in March 2008. The Onkyo TX-SR606 is a second generation Onkyo high-definition-capable receivers for home theatre that is next in line after the Onkyo TX-SR605 that was released in March 2008. It is a 7.1 receiver that features an upgrade to 4x HDMI 1.3a inputs, transcodes videosignals to HDMI as well as upscale to 1080i over HDMI.
Features
In terms of features, the Onkyo TX-SR606 can decode HD audio sources which include Dolby TrueHD and dts HD-MA, and can deliver 90 Watts at 8 Ohms to each of its 7 channels, all of each feature 5-way binding post connectors. Besides that, Onkyo’s own RIHD (Remote Interactive over HDMI) also gives you inter-operability with the displays and playback components from other leading brands. In addition to that, the Onkyo TX-SR606 also incorporates the expanded version of Audyssey’s room correction technology which allows the Onkyo TX-SR606 to maintain the fullness of surround sound audio quality at low volume levels. Also, the Onkyo TX-SR606 features HDTV-capable HDMI switching, Deinterlacer with Faroudja DCDI Edge technology and Bi-amping capability for music and movie surround effects. Besides that, the Onkyo TX-SR606 is also compatible with RI (Remote Interactive) dock for the iPod and supports Deep colour, X.V. colour, lipsync, Dolby TruHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD. Other than that, the Onkyo TX-SR606 also features DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus Decoding. Its other features include dual banana plug-compatible speaker posts for all channels, A/V synchronization function (up to 100 ms in 10 ms steps), 40 FM/ AM radio presets, RDS (PS/ RT/ PTY/ TP), 4 S-video inputs and 2 outputs, 5 A/V inputs and 1 output, 2 audio inputs and 1 output, digital upsampling, display dimmer in normal, dim and dimmer, headphone jack, sleep timer via remote, battery free memory backup, aluminium front panel, newly designed preprogrammed RI remote control with Mode-key LEDs, as well as powered zone 2 and zone 2 line-out for playback in another room.

Hi got my 606 today and have no humming sound If it helps I have it rigged up with a ps3 a samsung 1080p lcd,Q Acoustics 1010i speaker package,Marantz 6001 dvd player,media center pc. and all cables are QED ( HDMI and speaker cable )and all are plugged into a surge protector. Hope this helps. And I love the sound quality and build of this amp. Read more

I have had home cinema kit for many many years now, even investing in the likes of Meridian processors which costs loads of money. Then I settled on a Pioneer VSX-D2011 which did everything I needed for almost three years. With all the new sound formats coming out, like TrueHD, I wanted to get a new receiver.
