List All 3 PricesThe Persona spin-off has become the darling of the Shin Megami Tensei series, thanks to the PS2 hits Persona 3 and Persona 4 . Fans of that series owe it to themselves to check out where it all began with SMT: Persona . It doesn’t follow the exact formula of later games, but it’s still a wonderful adventure with many concepts that were revolutionary at the time, and still daring in the video game world. Even if you aren’t a Shin Megami Tensei fan, or don’t even... Read more
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona is, by modern RPG standards, a remnant of the past that simply can't stand up to today's offerings. Even with the multitude of enhancements that have been made to the original PlayStation release, it is still a fundamentally flawed experience. Even the most dedicated of Persona fans (especially those expecting something similar to Persona 3 or 4) should think twice about playing this, because of its monotonous dungeon-crawling and insipid... There were two main reasons for this: Persona and Suikoden were the first RPGs I played on Sony's new console, and Persona had a modern setting and horror elements (which was largely unheard of at the time). That second one was arguably more important than... Read more
If you've never played Persona before, then you pretty much know all you need to at this point. People who have played it before will be happy to know about new songs, new cutscenes, and an entirely-restored sidequest (that is nearly as long as the game itself and completely optional). The entire game brings back retro feelings of RPGs, and while this will definitely please some, it's easy to see that it can be just as strong of a turn-off for anyone not accustomed to... Read more
In the wide world of RPGs, games that offer the same experience as the Shin Megami Tensei series are quite scarce. It’s been more than a decade since the release of Revelations: Persona , a mere piece of the venerable and expansive Shin Megami Tensei ( MegaTen ) series (though more of a spinoff at the time of its inception) and these days it’s never looked better. Atlus, famed publisher of quirky niche titles that go a long way to satiate our bloodlust for solid... Read more
