PET1030

The portable DVD player model PET1030/37 is another release from Philips. The PET1020/37 is a Portable DVD Player with a 10.2" LCD Display. The product has a 180-degree swivel screen and comes with a Car Mount Kit. Audio output mode is Stereo and for the surround sound effects, it is Dolby Digital. The built-in decoder is Dolby Digital. It has Top-load as its DVD media load type. Its display size is of 10.2 inches. It measures at 10.6 inches x 7.4 inches x 1.3 inches and weighs at 2.9 pounds. On the controller are Menu/Disk, Set up, Direction arrows, OK button, Display, Options, Vol Up and Down, Play/Pause, Fast Forward, Rewind, Stop, Mute, Number Button 0-9, Subtitles, Audio, Return, A-B, Zoom. This portable DVD player is of the size of a hard cover book. Battery life is said in the player’s manual to last about 4 hours. It comes in the color Black.

There’s a 10.2" LCD display that’s 180-degree swivel screen. There’s a memory card slot and usb2.0 connector. A car mount kit is also included. It has parental channel lock. The DVD Player comes with Smart Car Mount.With DivX support which means that DivX encoded videos can be played. The DivX media format is an MPEG4-based video compression technology that enables you to save large files like movies, trailers and music videos on media like CD-R/RW, memory cards and DVD-video. DivX CDs can be played back on selected DVD players, DVD Recorders and Home Theater Systems. The volume can be changed with the remote. It has the option of volume numbers 1-16. The bass on it is that of your normal small speaker quality. Some functions can be accessed on the DVD player itself. This player has the option where if you turn the DVD Player off, it will stat back up at the same place. For the connections, it has a Headphone jack, AV In/Out, USB connection, SC/MMC Card. When you connect the USB, you can use it as a player for your MP3 player. You can connect your iPod and charge the iPod, PSP, Camera anything that has the option of a USB connection. Accessories featured are a controller, cigarette lighter adapter, TV adapter, and an option where you can attach the DVD player to the back of a car seat. This portable DVD player comes with a one year warranty.

    The PET1030 is a superb portable DVD player, which uses its high-resolution 10.2in screen to great effect with first-rate picture quality. It also boasts a gorgeous, user-friendly design and compatibility with a wide range of media, but the icing on the cake is the inclusion of USB and SD card slots, which makes this more than just a DVD player.     Overall, this is an impressive player, although for £250 we would have expected to find some headphones in the box too. That aside, the PET1030 is a fine portable player and comes with our firm recommendation. Read more

    Firstly, you'll want to make sure you've got firmware version 070904 as a minimum. This removes an on-screen graphic glitch which throws up the Chapter number, annoyingly, during each transition. You get the latest software from the Philips website on www.p4c.philips.com with instructions on how to tell what firmware you've currently got.
