Review Summary
SingStar is a PS 3 game about practicing your singing skills which is also known as Karaoke to the Japanese culture. The method of Japanese tradition for singing in clubs is by reading the soundtrack lyrics off a TV screen. Nowadays, some people like to enjoy themselves on a Friday night after a long working week therefore the best way to entertain them is by enjoying Karaoke. Singstar is Sony’s effort at mixing Karaoke and rhythm action games which has been very popular for the PS2. People get an opportunity to sing into a couple of enjoyably microphones while music videos play on the screen, along with the lyrics. If the player hit the correct notes and sing words nicely, the player will gain points. It is featured with an online mode which is fantastic and lots of sequels of certain musical genre. Moreover, the visual of the game is superb. You also have options to customize the wallpaper and post your highest score. Some viewers find it very entertaining. It is a game that can be played together with one’s family and also there is no age limit. And also it is fun and exciting to compete your singing skills with your friend.

If you find none of the included tracks float your vocal boat, then you can go online to the Singstore and purchase loads more songs & wallpapers for a paltry fee (99 English pence to you). I cannot recommend this enough. It made my Christmas fun, much the same way the Wii did last year. It's not just Nintendo that can do party games well, the bods at Sony know their stuff as well. I would put money on a PS3 version of Buzz! in the near future. Read more

With something like this, you always get people that say “I can’t sing!” or “I’m a brilliant singer!” A Problem with both of those statements is that who cares? This game is about having fun! Me myself, I can’t sing at all, but I try. Sympathy, please send on a postcard. Anyway, with every Singstar, there has been somethi... Read more

Singstar for the PlayStation 3 isn't fundamentally different from its predecessors but there is very little left to change for the franchise. With a great soundtrack and some long overdue online features, Singstar is a great continuation of the series. Read more
