Setting an action-adventure RPG in Greek mythology sounds like it should be a winning idea. But for most of Rise of the Argonaughts I had to endure endless fetch quests and badly delivered dialogue to find a redeeming story. The entertaining combat is sadly kept to a minimum and only after struggling through five hours of turgid gameplay did the experience become worthwhile with the addition of famous heroes and monsters. Meaty combat, meaningful dialogue and larger-than-life characters - it's more than a God of War wannabe. Read more

If you're into ancient Greece and Zeus and all that jazz, then walking around the period locations will prove a thrill in itself. But if you're after a good RPG adventure with plenty of action then you'll find Rise far too inert to do the legendary tale of Jason and the Argonauts justice. Read more

Overall the game is a lark. My only real negative is the story, but the one that gets told by Codemasters isn't a bad one. Gameplay isn't overly complex and it isn't too short. The music isn't annoying and that's always a plus. Rise of the Argonauts is a pretty good game and doesn't make me wish I had the hours playing it back. Read more

The Reviews really ruins the expectations for the game it is a really well made game , both a great story line and great action battles. Even though at the beginning the game gets little complicated for us to fully master it, like god powers and how to use the weapons , but when u do, u will find your self indulged in a raw action game Read more

Bought this product a week before christmas. Besides the fact that there's too much dialog, and too much time spent on image quality and beatiful scenary, rather than more fight scenes, and better acrobatic moves as in AC or GOW, this is still a great game to own if you're a fan of greek mythology. I can’t really think of anything positive to say about this RPG based on Greek mythology. The graphics are poor, and glitchy. The characters are bland (notice how many of them look very very similar to each other), boring quests, very frustrating cut scenes and dialogue bits. Even the action elements of the game are poor. The 2005 PS2 game ’God of War’ is vastly superior to this, is based on Greek mythology and great fun to play - get that instead. Read more

After renting this game, I didn't have too high expectations because of some of the reviews I'd read, but once I started playing the game I was quite happy with it. The character controls are nothing new, kind of like Dark Kingdom if anyone has played that. However the mix of combat and questing does provide a fresh look at the genre. You spend your time split between combat and adventuring, talking to people, finding information etc, and there is a set combat mode for... Read more
