Tools of Destruction is like the basic game play found in previous Ratchet & Clank games, which player controls Ratchet most of the time, with some sections using Clank, as they explore a numbers of worlds in completing missions, using Ratchet’s wrench and other exotic weapons gained during the course. Besides weapons gained, player can collect Raritanium crystals and use them to upgrade the weapon in additional ways beyond the experience path; weapon improvements are presented in a tree-like structure and require that all previous upgrades be obtained for that weapon first before later upgrades can be purchased. Besides weapons, there are also objects known as ‘devices’ that provide beneficial affect to the player. Armour can be bought from an armour vendor on certain planet. At times, the player will control Clank in a mode similar to previous games, using robotic creatures called Zoni to fight foes, remove debris or reconstruct bridges, and to power devices in the level. Clank possesses the ability to slow down time as well during these sections, allowing him, for example, to make his way under a rapidly closing door. Moreover, it also features an arena with several challenges beyond the main game play. This series also features lip-synced dialogue between the characters during game play, out of cut scenes.
Rachet & Clank: Tools of destruction is a PS 3game about a character named Rachet who is the last of the lombax. The shooting and platforming in the game is strong. Moreover, this game is installed with minigames and gameplay mechanics. Lombax is a race of catlike creatures. Emperor Percival Tachyon is a big-headed alien who is the villain in this game. He has a Napoleonic complex. He apparently doesn’t like Lombax. Therefore he planned to get rid of Rachet. In this case, he learned that lombax has a secret but Rachet himself doesn’t know that he is a Lombax. Clank is Rachet’s sidekick robot who has been interacting with some tiny aliens called the Zoni which he only can see. In the game, Rachet is provided with various weapons such as grenades, rockets, spikes, blasters, a whip, bouncing saw blades, and more. The game dialogues are quite hilarious. The advantages of this game are that the shooting and plat forming are as exciting as ever, various weapons, great colourful visuals and firm controls. While the disadvantages are that there are some pointless gameplay mechanics, the game is lack of identity and it is too easy. Hence, viewers commented that the story of the game is not that entertaining and the ending is unsatisfactory.
See lessSo there you have it. A game right up near the top of the PS3 tree. Insomniac should be given the key and freedom of Sonyland for the quality work they have done in the console’s early days. Ignore the pedants who claim ‘evolution but no revolution.’ This is a polished, brilliant sounding, looking and playing gem that has built upon a solid method and brought it right up to next gen standards. This isn’t Kate Moss looking plain and bored saying ‘get the London... Read more
After saving countless planets from dreadful doom and earning intergalactic mega-celebrity status in the process, Ratchet and Clank have taken some well-deserved R&R - again. Yet, Ratchet remains restless. An orphan of the universe, he has never known anything of his past, his family, or his Lombax origins. And no one, not even Clank, can fill that void. Unfortunately for Ratchet, someone else is equally interested in Ratchet?s origins: Emperor Percival Tachyon. In his... Read more
Best get this out in the open straight away: Tools is exactly the same as previous Ratchet titles, but shinier. To be fair to Insomniac, 'more of the same' isn't too harsh a criticism given how hard the Ratchet series rocks. Even though we've played all four of the PS2 titles and the PSP one, Gamestyle still found ourselves grinning with glee as we played through Tools . The hours melted away, and still we didn't want to stop. Read more
Pros Stunning visuals. Entertaining romp for everyone. Insanely enjoyable weapons. Cons Little innovation. Shooting sections are a little weak. Storyline not as strong as previous games. Established as one half of the double-act duos taking on mascot duties for the PlayStation2, Ratchet & Clank make a return from their well earned R&R with a debut on the PS3, and it seems their latest adventure couldn't have come quick enough for Sony. In desperate need for strong... Read more
When all is said and done Tools of Destruction can be best seen as a refinement rather than the big step forward that some thought it would be when it was first announced. At its core the game is still what it has always been, offering its own unique blend of platforming and shooter action. However, this time it features bigger levels, zanier weapons, and much more scope than ever before. As a result it’s certainly hard to step away from the game feeling any way... Read more
One of the best franchises on the PS2 has come to the PS3. My favourite game on the PS3 at the moment is Ratchet & Clank ToD. It's a great game and very addictive for any fan of TPS, blowning stuff up and robotic pirates should love this game. Storyline You control a Lombax called Ratchet and your sidekick is of course Clank. You play as Clank every now and then but you mainly play has Ratchet. The plot is as follows: you find out that you are the last Lombax in... Read more
Ratchet & Clank games have always been good. It was a must buy for the Playstation 2. And now, it's come to the Playstation 3, and the creators have done dam fine job as well. The opening level is breath-taking, as buildings are destroyed by evil robots, debris flying everywhere, and the whole city going kaka koko. You think that it's imposible to fight back against all these guys at first, but you soon realise, you are far better than them. The weapons are unique in... Read more

This is an awesome game. It might not be as "Mature" as titles lie GTA IV, Oblivion, or Fable II, but it has a great story and tons of unlockables. Not to mention the graphics, which rival that of MGS4 and Crysis. Also, a game doesn't have to be rated Mature to be fun. Read more
Summary: A really good game, shame that they removed the multiplayer option. Read more
