Review Summary
NHL 07 is a PS 3 game about hockey. It is feature with the skill stick. It has a great star play mechanic which works nicely. While NHL 08 is an improvement of NHL 07. AI is improves making the game looks like a real life sport event. There are also new online modes, defensive controls, offensive controls, improvement on both the skill stick and the dynasty mode. Therefore, NHL 08 is much more exciting and challenging game than NHL 07. The speed burst mechanic in the game has a part to do with skating. Hence, the energy of the skaters as they lift up and down the ice it feels more natural and less overblown, and the pacing of the game is much more realistic. There are also some dopey moments. The advantages of this game are that skill stick is useful, online modes include team play and league, great graphics, and audio system and also a good create-a-play feature. While the disadvantages are a few controllers are foible, the goalie controls are malfunction and the frame rate is not that stable either. Players like the AI which has been greatly improved. But some viewers really didn’t find the online play that functional because it has connection problems.

One of the big complaints about NHL 07 was that it was a barren wasteland for game modes. It didn't have much of a dynasty mode, and online play was just laggy head-to-head play. Both areas of the game have significantly improved this year. Dynasty mode finally features a realistic negotiation system for signing players, as well as more helpful rookie info and better coaching and management options. Oh right, I didn't get that far as I... erm... died a few times and only had 15 minutes to try it before work. I'll check it out in more depth later on. There are also demos of Conan and NHL 2K8 on the US PS Store too but they appear to be identical to the 360 versions.
