Review Summary
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock features the best track list of any Guitar Hero game till now, with lots of master tracks from the original bands and artists. You have a guitar controller with five fret buttons and a strummer with notes on the screen. All you have to do is to hit the matching buttons to make rock. In Guitar Hero III, you will be making rock with one of the best soundtracks to be found in any rhythm game. The soundtrack covers different periods and its Classic rock is awesome. Reviewers state that Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock also features some new additions which make the game more fun to play. The game features an online play which is a fantastic addition on PlayStation 3. Another interesting addition is a co-op career mode. This works much like the single-player career mode, but you can play together with a friend. Reviewers find these new additions to be really great. The game also includes some high difficulty levels which will thrill experienced players but may put off new players. Reviewers also say that the game features too much of in-game advertising which may deter players. But if you like music and singing, then Guitar Hero III is a good pastime for you.

So Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is not the throbbing unadulterated solo that Gamestyle had hoped for, yet it remains far from mediocrity. With foundations as strong as this, very few developers could hit the wrong chord, although how much more cash-milking we can stomach without some worthwhile new inclusions other than songs remains to be seen. Unfortunately, it's a neat idea that's overly restrictive in practice. For one thing, there are six songs you can unlock only in co-op career, which means that if you don't have a buddy with a second guitar that can come over and spend an afternoon playing, you won't get those songs (at least until someone eventually digs up the "unlock all songs" code for the game). Also, no version of the game ships with a co-op quick-play option. The only way to play cooperatively ... Read more

my son bought this at the weekend and we've played it to death since - I keep kicking him off so I can play - it's stunning - I don't play the guitar in real life and we never had the PS2 version so I can't compare but it really feels like you're playing a real guitar!! so much better than air guitar! as for the songs - I'm not so keen on the thrash stuff but most of it is really good, some of the songs you think you don't know but when you've heard them you'll recog...
