The game has an ESRB rating of M and falls under the genre of role playing game.

Features

The games has the player take up the role of a male high-school student, who returns to the city he grew up in tern years after leaving it as an orphan, to finish out this schooling. Through some events, he then joins up with other members of SEES, the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad, a group of special people with the magical ability to to use weapons and summon beings called “Personas” to attack Shadows and other beings that emerges during the “Dark Hour”, which is a time period between each day only few humans are aware of. One of the most noticeable feature in the game is that the method by which the members of SEES release their Personas: by firing an Evoker, a gun-lick object, at their head. In addition to the normal RPG elements in Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3, the game has a pinch of a typical japanese dating simulation game, where player progress day by day through school year, making friends with over 20 different characters and relationships that improve the strenght of the main characters Persona in battle. Each day in the game is broken down to several periods such as “Morning”, “Afternoon” and “Evening”, with the main character participating in selected activies during these times. The players may choose to use these times to buy equipment and items at stores, talk to other non-playable characters, improve the main character’s attributes such as courage, intelligence and charisma or even spend time building Social Link, which represents various relationships the main character has with other characters in the game. Other that that, players spend time exploring a place called Tartarus to level up and fight Shadows in a turn based RPG style. The soundtrack for the game was composed by Shoji Meguro with the exception of one track by Yosuke Uda. It was released as a 2-disc Original Soundtrack on July 19, 2006.
