The book licensing really shows Middle-Earth for what it truly should be, and Tolkien would have certainly been a proud man to see his Middle-Earth brought to life in such a way. A lot of the player attraction also comes from the novelty of the game being set in Middle-Earth, so if you want to get into MMOGs without taking a massive dive into Warcraftian lore, or join a clan of Conanites (later this year), this could well be the one you may with to try first. Of course, the big question which many of you will want to hear a view on is this; is it worth quitting WoW to play this? The answer to that is... Well, it depends. If you're deeply ensconced in an active WoW guild and enjoying the game, then LOTRO's improvements probably aren't significant enough to drag you away. However, there are many players for whom Azeroth (and Outland) are simply starting to feel tired, and we would whole-heartedly recommend that those players... Read more

It may not be enough to pull you away from WoW, but on the other hand, it might. As one of the most complete MMORPGs at launch, it's worth at a minimum getting a buddy key and checking it out. Read more

Thanks to an important license and diligent (if unoriginal) game design, this is the first real alternative MMO to come along for years, and one that demands your attention, whether or not you’re into the movies and books. With very little in the way of downtime and a seemingly endless stream of things to do and new things to see, the future is looking very bright. Let’s just hope Turbine has learned form the lessons of past games and brings this potential to fruition... Read more

An MMO that does justice to Middle Earth, and the first to get in range of matching Blizzard’s towering benchmark in the genre. Whether you’re a newbie, a Tolkien-nut or a hardened online warrior, LOTRO has what you’re looking for. Read more

MMOs are a strange bunch, they have their fair share of -ve's and +ve's from rubbish graphics to lame repetitive "Is this it until Level xx" kind quests, which gets them more critisism by the fact that you end up playing it to justify your £10 a month. I have played every P2P (Pay 2 Play) MMO on the market, so I have a little experience in this. Now its not my intension to slate WoW, because WoW in itself is a good gameplay experience, if a little dated graphically an... Read more
