Only the real die-hard fans of the F.E.A.R. series and gamers who haven't played the original F.E.A.R. will enjoy Perseus Mandate and my advice to those who haven't already played any of the F.E.A.R. series is, go and buy the original! There's nothing special about Perseus Mandate and there's plenty more gameplay to enjoy in the original. Read more

Overall this standalone is there to draw new blood to the gaming series, it's a shame that new blood wasn't considered for the actual game itself, the storyline seems incomplete and the graphics below par for this genre. Now this isn't to say the game is poor, it's a pretty enjoyable first person shooter and as long as you aren't looking for top notch graphics or a powerful plot (or indeed any worthwhile plot at all), you might well enjoy the game. We weren’t expecting anything majorly new from Perseus Mandate. The original F.E.A.R. pretty much achieved everything it set out to do and it hasn’t lent itself to expansions as well as other series have. Even the positive multiplayer aspect can’t be recommended because it is just nothing new. At around six hours to play through, and with only a moderately intriguing storyline to follow, this is about as thin as F.E.A.R.’s welcome will wear without breaking. Read more
