  • Conclusion: A solid FPS with some fun characters, but the lack of multiplayer and the only slight improvement in the controls from the original iPhone version ultimately end up disappointing

Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Empire Online
1 October 2010
  • Summary: While 2008’s explosive Battlefield: Bad Company delivered the goods in its monstrous multiplayer mash-ups, the shallow single-player mode lacked the punch required to put it in the pantheon of first-person shooters currently lorded over by the Call Of Duty franchise. But in crafting a blaster that will appeal to both solo players and those who live their lives online, Bad Company 2 is dramatic step forward for DICE’s beloved franchise.

  • Excerpt: COD is over-fished With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 1 and 2 effectively rewriting the book on modern-theatre combat games, some players might be forgiven for thinking that the Battlefield series has had its day. Though recent outings on the Xbox Live Arcade have proved the viability of console-based Battlefield, purists will always argue that the series always felt more at home on high-powered PCs than making drastic concessions to “fit” on consoles.

Review: Battlefield Bad Company 2

GamerDork
17 March 2010
  • Excerpt: Love it or hate it, there’s no way you can deny that the spectre of Modern Warfare now looms large over every war themed first-person-shooter. After such a po-faced depiction of war and terror in the first game, by the time Modern Warfare 2 was halfway through it was clearly taking a run up to jump the shark, landing the other side into the kind of second rate storyline reserved for bad action movies.Battlefield developers DICE must have been quietly guffawing to...

Games Abyss

  • Conclusion: If you love online multiplayer, the game's a great value. If you're getting it solely for the single player campaign, wait until the price goes down.
  • Pros: Provides a good challenge through great level design, amazing art and unsually effective AI.
  • Cons: See above. Difficulty curve on default is a little high.

Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam Review

AtomicGamer
26 December 2010
  • Excerpt: It's been a weird year for first person shooters. With the success of Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2 , the release of EA's Battlefield Bad Company 2 in March was a little iffy. Despite its more team-focused online play, large maps, and solid vehicle-based action, this title never really got the attention it deserved.

Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam Review

AusGamers
24 December 2010
  • Conclusion: With only four new maps, it does feel a bit light; but each map can be played in the three standard Bad Company 2 modes —- Squad Deathmatch, Rush and Conquest —- with each map boasting a distinct difference between play modes and its respective alternatives. Forget about blowing up any cover/object made of stone, as it simply doesn’t work; but the abundance of hills, trenches and infantry chokepoints makes for some fantastically furious firefights.
