The Netgear RND4000 is a storage solution that was designed for the growing small businesses in mind, specifically for home offices, small businesses and workgroups. This Network Attached Storage (NAS) appliance is packed with robust high-end server features, including Gigabit Ethernet, hardware RAID, system monitoring capabilities and built-in backup, plus out of the box deployment and easy management with robust file serving and data redundancy. It comes with multi-lingual user interface with English, German, French, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Russian languages.

The Netgear RND4000 is a versatile drive that features 4 hot swappable HDD (3.5-inch) in a small 8-inch high desktop design, where the HDD are initialized and the system is pre-configured in X-RAID technology plus RAID 0, 1, 5 modes for immediate use. The RND4000 is equipped with 4 Serial ATA channels, compatible with SATA and SATA II HDD, Hot-swappable trays, one Ethernet 10Base-T/100Base-TX/1000Base-T - RJ-45, built-in devices status LCD, plus three USB 2.0 ports that supports USB HDD, flash drives, printers, UPS monitoring and auto shutdown. With an easy Web browser interface and setup wizard, the RND4000 can be configured with minimal effort. Traditional file servers can take hours to configure and, even once up and running, it does not have built-in system monitoring and email alerts. It also supports hardware accelerated RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) single volume auto expansion or multiple levels volume support for RAID 0, 1, 5 and ReadyNAS’s own X-RAID™ technology, the NV+ ensures full data redundancy with protection against hardware failure. If one drive fails, the data volumes can still be rebuilt with the remaining drives. ReadyNAS’s patent pending X-RAID technology automates the volume expansion for you as you scale from 1 drive to 4 drives. ReadyNAS allows you to start with one disk, and then add the additional drives over time, without reconfiguring the system and shuffling the data. Additionally, as disk capacity becomes larger and cheaper, you can replace all four disks, one by one, while X-RAID automatically manages the RAID details for you. All ReadyNAS systems include multiple backup layers that can be customize to fit your needs. It also has built-in Vault option that can move files and folders to an offsite secure data centre for disaster recovery. The Netgear RND4000 is a single centralized source for all of your digital data, where it can bring all of that data together for fast and easy file serving to multiple clients simultaneously. It also shares printers with ease and provides UPnP AV support for a wide variety of digital media devices such as NETGEAR EVA products or Microsoft Xbox 360™, Slim Server, network DVD player compatible, Apple iTunes® server, plus Sony PlayStation® 3. The Netgear RND4000 comes with DDR-SDRAM SO-DIMM 256 MBPC2700 installed memory, embedded 64 MB flash memory, Dynamic IP address assignment, DHCP or static IP server and print server, plus WINS and NTP. Besides that, it also has network security options such as selectable share, user, domain/ ADS modes, support Windows ACL, encrypted network logins and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). The RND4000 is compatible with operating system such as Apple MacOS 9.x, Linux 2.4 or later, Apple MacOS X 10.2 or later, Microsoft Windows 98SE/2000/ME/XP and Microsoft Windows Vista. It also supports network file services such as CIFS/SMB for Windows, AFP 3.1 for Mac OS 9/X, NFS v2 / v3 for Linux and UNIX, HTTP/S for Web browsers and also supports FTP/S. It is also compatible with web browser such as Internet Explorer 6.0+, Netscape Navigator 7.0+, Opera 7.0+; Safari 1.22+ and Mozilla Firefox® 1.03+. The Netgear RND4000 has dimensions that measures in at 5.2-inch (132 mm) in width, 7.9-inch (200 mm) in height, 8.7-inch (222 mm) in depth and it weights in at 10 pounds (4.6 Kg) without disks. It also offers low power consumption and a special energy-saving mode that allows you to automate start-up and shut-down. The Netgear RND4000 has fan-less server-rated AC power supply with 100-240V AC, 50/60 Hz, and it has power consumption of 55 W typical (with 4 x 250GB disks) plus power saving mode. It also features 92mm ball-bearing chassis cooling fan, fan failure alert and also high temperature email alert with auto-shutdown option. The Netgear RND4000 is also compliance with FCC, UL, CE, C-tick, and RoHS regulations. It also comes with an internal Power supply, with voltage requirement of AC 120/230 V (50/60 Hz) plus it has a minimum operating temperature of 32 °F and maximum operating temperature of 104 °F, plus humidity operating range of between 20 to 80%.
