List All 2 PricesEver since the original netbook, the Asus Eee PC 701 , debuted way back in 2007, netbooks have been flying off shelves at a rate of knots. Despite this success, however, the only notable hardware innovation has been nVidia's scarcely utilised ION chipset. Intel has finally done something about this in releasing its new netbook chipset, codenamed Pine Trail, and the Asus Eee PC 1005PE is one of first netbooks to utilise it. Read more

The Asus Eee PC 1005PE is a well-rounded netbook with almost no flaws. Its solid build is further enhanced by the excellent keyboard and responsive touchpad, and network connectivity is strong. While Asus has taken few risks with this new model, it's still an excellent option for those looking for a netbook. Read more
The 1005PE delivers a small speed bump over the old 1005HA, but you'll pay a lot extra for the privilege - and still not get class-leading battery life. On this showing at least, Intel's Pine Trail platform fails to impress. It's certainly no must-have upgrade. The 1005PE is a nice netbook - make no mistake - but it's no leap forward. Older, N280-based netbooks are cheaper and will deliver similar performance and battery life. ® Read more
The front of the 1005PE gives little away with only two small speaker grill and some LED status lights. To the left, there is the power connector, VGA output, a USB 2.0 port, Kensington lock, and an air vent. While the right features a multi-card reader (SD/MMC/SDHC), head phone and mic ports, two USB 2.0 ports and an Ethernet connection. Read more
Very small, light weight computer Battery life is excellent The ASUS O/S is annoying. Debating on removing it from the drive Performance is slower than a standard laptop. If you are running non-browser based apps I would not recommend but as a browser based app system it is great and extremely portable. Read more
Had one of these for half a year now and it's amazing. No problems at all. Great at web surfing and some low-end games. The keyboard does take some time to get used to and can be frustrating at first. Windows 7 Starter is not exactly the greatest too, though it does give you more battery life. I get about 5 hours with Windows 7 Professional and 3 hours with Ubuntu (9.10). DEFINITELY worth the price here. Read more
Normal netbook features, with a couple of highlights. This model has a higher-spec (but not physically larger) battery. I get runtime of 10+ hr with WiFi and medium screen brightness - and the battery does not stick out awkwardly as it does on some competitors. The island style keyboard is terrific and better (for me) than some reviewers suggest - I like it better than other island netbook keyboards (T) ranked better in many reviews. The blue color is very attractive.... Read more
I was an early netbook and ASUS adopter. I have a eeePC 700 series (yup, 7" screen, 4 Gb flash HDD, running linux...). and loved that machine (still have it) and appreciated many of the nice features (hardware and software) provided by ASUS. I was an ASUS supporter and probably convinced some friends to buy ASUS products. My past positive experience with ASUS was a big factor in ignoring the expert advice of purchasing a competitor (many 'top rated' picks from first-rate... Read more
This review is from: Asus 1005PE 10.1-inch Netbook (Intel Atom N450 1.66 GHz Processor, 1 GB RAM, 250 GB HDD, up to 11 hr Battery, WLAN, Bluetooth, Webcam, Windows 7 Starter, White) (Electronics) I bought the Asus eeepc 1005PE a few weeks ago. I immediately installed xubuntu instead of the useless windows that came with the computer. Battery life is good, although not as good as claimed by ASUS. Nevertheless, I will easily get 4-5 hours with wireless on, which is very... Read more
