Unreliablity or poor manufacturing control - what ever the cause, my first machine developed a fault with the scanner almost straight away - it was returned and a new one provided. This second one had an intermittent fault from the start, only getting part way through the warm up sequence before shutting down - It might then work perfectly for a bit before switching mid print Do I dare risk having a third replacement of the same model? My daughter has ben using a Pixma in Japan for 5 years with no complaints. She researched the Japanese market and found that Canon are the most popular. This model, reviewed in MacUser (12/10/07), comes out top with 5 mice against Brother (not as fast), HP (too expensive) Epson and Lexmark. Read more
