The Sony NWZ-S638F is a Digital MP3/MP4 player that comes with superior sound quality, SensMe playlists technology, automatic playlist generator, FM radio, 40 hours of battery life and supports PC interface with its high-speed USB connectivity. It has a built-in 2-inch LCD display and has additional features like Clear Stereo, Clear Bass and DSEE digital for quality sound enhancement. It also comes with storage capacity of 8GB on its internal flash memory for storing files and it also enables user to play AAC, MP3, MP4, PCM, WMA, WMV 9, AVC/H.264, MPEG-4 and including Protected WMA subscription content from the likes of Rhapsody and Napster.

The Sony NWZ-S638F features easy to use menus with short cut icons like a mobile phone, and it comes with storage capacity of 8GB to holds up to 2,000 tracks (128kbps mp3) or over 30 hours video playback (at 384kbps). It also supports audio format such as AAC, MP3, MP4, PCM, AVC/H.264, MPEG-4, WMV 9, WMA (protected and unprotected) as well as JPEG photo playback, plus user can use it as a flash drive, with the USB 2.0 support, to store other digital files for backup or transferring files. The device provides a built-in 5-band equalizer setting (4 presets and 2 custom settings) that brings out the best sound mix for your music. It also features three built-in audio technologies, in the likes of Clear Bass, Clear Stereo sound effect technology that allows user to get a more powerful bass sound and DSEE digital sound enhancement. It is also fitted with a Dynamic Normalizer function that balances the volume level between songs to keep sound even. It also comes with 10 theme settings and wallpaper settings (Match Theme, Preset 10 Wallpapers, and User Setting). The player is equipped with a dynamic playlist function called SensMe that analyses the musical content of each of songs and puts them in playlists category such as ‘Energetic’, ‘Relax’ and ‘Extreme’. The NWZ-S638F has built-in ultra bright colour QVGA LCD display that measures 2.0-inch with 240-by-320-pixels resolution (display Horizontal / Vertical) that displays razor sharp videos, photos and album art in portrait or widescreen format, Back-light display, plus enables user to navigate by folder and search by ID3 tags function (all songs, artist, album, genre, release year, play-list, and folder). It is fitted with a Digital FM radio tuner with 30 preset channels, music playback modes such as normal, repeat, shuffle, shuffle & repeat, repeat 1 song playback range selection (all range / selected range) and intelligent shuffle (time machine shuffle / shuffle all). Besides that, it is also fitted with play mode of continuous video playback mode (On / Off), Photo play mode (normal, slide show, slide show repeat with slide show interval of short, normal or Long), normal Podcast play mode plus drag and drop files capability via Windows Media Player 11, iTunes or Windows Explorer.
