The player comes with a user replaceable and rechargeable Lithium-ion battery that can support up to 20 hours of music playback. Its storage type is flash and the supported audio formats are MP3 and WMA. The player also features a digital FM tuner, a on-the-fly FM recording as well as voice recording options. What’s more, it has a microSD expansion slot for additional memory capacity. A 1GB addition can be made bringing the total storage capacity to 9 GB. The package includes a Sansa Media Converter that support all video and photo formats. It transfers all videos and photos to the device. It will resize all the media to the size of Sansa’s screen and convert movies to the QuickTime .mov file and photos to the windows bitmap file for internal storage. The Sansa e280 also supports SanDisk TrustedFlash™-enabled cards and Gruvi content cards. Additionally, it supports ID3 Tag. The minimum system requirements are Windows XP, Windows Media Player 10+, CD-ROM drive and USB 2.0 port for hi-speed transfer. The device supports two USB transfer modes. The first is the Media Transfer Protocol used to transfer DRM protected media and the second one is the Mass Storage Class protocol that works across all operating systems and allows the user to use the Sandisk Sansa as a portable flash drive. The total package contents include the Sansa e200 Series Player, a travel pouch and lanyard, a pair of stereo headphones, a lithium-ion rechargeable battery, one USB cable, a Quick Start Guide, Dc with user guide and additional flyer inserts. The Sandisk Sansa e280 comes with a limited one year warranty.
The SanDisk Sansa e280 is slightly thicker when compared to the iPod Nano. In other words, although it is largely the same in size, it has a 1.8 inch screen whereas the Apple’s is 1.5 inch. This product is definitely the best option for music crazy consumers. The SanDisk Sansa e280 is a compatible player which has Microsoft’s PlayForSure, which allows music to be heard on rental. The SanDisk Sansa e280 has an integrated flash memory of 8GB along with a SD card expansion slot. The Sansa e280 is a package of several features, which includes compatibility, subscription, FM tuner and recorder, photo and video playback, voice recording and many more. It has an excellent navigation wheel and the best software interface. The user removable battery and the sound quality also add to its beauty. It has a long battery life and a good processor performance. The product is available in competitive prices. The full colour LCD is just amazing along with a precise and sharp video and photo quality. But it has a bad viewing angle so it is always advised to view it from the screen directly.
The MP3 files could be easily synchronized with the Windows Media Player for managing and transferring tracks. It could even be transferred through the drag and drop process. However, the Sansa e280 has no adapter and the buttons present around the phone are clustered and is very difficult to press. Working on these buttons could really tire out your thumbs. Recording can de done only through WAV files. Recording is very precise so even low levels of system noise can be heard through these headphones even when kept at zero or low volumes. The Sansa e280 comes with a bundle of features at a reasonable cost, and proves to be a worthy investment.

The overall design, features and navigation of the Sansa e280 indicate that Sandisk makes no bones about taking on the iPod Nano. The designers have succeeded admirably, and in terms of value, features and quality this is the closest we've seen to an iPod killer in a long while. Die hard fans of Apple's player will still argue that theirs is best, but anyone looking for a capable alternative or wanting voice recording or video playback won't go far wrong with the Sansa... The SanDisk Sansa e280 does many things well and, despite some gripes, we were impressed. But if the SanDisk Sansa e280 is to compete with iPod nano it needs a few design tweaks. Read more

Due to a Licence cost to supply FM Radio on models sold in Europe there is an extra cost for this feature in the UK, making it more expensive. In my experience, Sandisk support and after care is very very poor. I would avoid this mp3 player ... go for the iPOD. there is a reason it is a best seller... it works and the customer support is good. Read more
The ideal MP3 player has not yet been created, and while the Sansa e2xx series is very good for many of the things, the software is poor for podcasts. Also, it should be possible to put the software into a reduced eyesight mode (for someone with less than perfect vision; i.e., anyone over 50). Reduced eyesight mode would eliminate all the fancy screen graphics and provide the largest text possible so that the screen can be read without glasses by the average 50 year-old... Read more
This review is from: Sandisk Sansa e280 - 8Gb MP3 & Video Player (Electronics) I bought the the 8gb player around 15 months ago. When it arrived, it had grubby fingerprints on the back, so Amazon gave me a part-refund. Player tends not to recognise a number of tracks, which makes them really hard to find. Some are listed only as one of many 'Track 1's. The player also had difficulty with 'Bad Tracks' which it refused to play altogether. These issues were frustrating but... Read more
