The Samsung YP-Q1 features a Digital music player that comes with either 4GB, 8GB or 16GB of storage capacity on its internal flash memory, a physical lock switch on the right-hand side and provides a built-in 5-band equalizer plus 12 factory preset equalizer (Normal; Studio; Rock; Classical; Jazz; Ballad; Club; Rythm & Blues; Dance; Cafe; Concert; Church). The player also supports digital format such as FLAC, OGG, MP3, and WMA (protected and un protected) file formats, as well as JPEG photo playback, plus it is bundled with the Samsung Media Studio software, and also support Windows Media Video files with 320x240-pixel resolutions, at a range of bit rates up to 768Kbps. The Samsung YP-Q1 has built-in colour QVGA LCD display that measures 61mm (2.4-inch) with 240-by-320-pixels resolution, Back-light display, plus enables user to navigate by folder and search by ID3 tags function (all songs, artist, album, genre, release year, play-list, and folder). It is fitted with a Digital FM radio tuner, support for BBC iPlayer downloads (the iPlayer library is freely downloadable), supports album artwork, plus voice recording function with integrated mono microphone that enables user to record personal notes and memos, also records favourites broadcast stations. It also uses Antenna headphones, Headphone type 3.5mm, USB cables, a USB (4 PIN USB Type A) and it also has external hard drive function. It is also compatible with Windows XP or higher (Vista); UMS: Windows 2000, Windows XP or higher (Vista). It is powered by the built-in Lithium-polymer rechargeable battery and when fully charged, it is sufficient to power the device up to 30 hours of audio playback and 4 hours of video playback. It measures in at 98mm in height, 50mm in width, 11mm in depth and 61 grams in weight.

My primary reason for using an mp3 player has always been for listening to music and to obtain best possible sound quality with a somewhat limited budget. The objective was to purchase a well-priced player then balance it by upgrading it with a good quality pair of earbuds (a high-end earbud if required). Obviously, judging sound is very subjective.
