The Zune from Microsoft Corporation is a new MP3 player to hit the market scene with a style all its own. This unit is designed for the wireless music sharer. Again, this is another attempt for Microsoft to get their piece of the pie. It comes loaded with a 30 GB hard drive for storing all those special files. The Zune presents itself well with a 3.0 inch screen for video playback. The Zune is seen as somewhat bulky with its measurements of 61 x 112 x 15 millimeters compared to a 30 GB iPod. It weighs in at an astonishing 160 g. Zune is offered in black, white, or brown. Where does Zune fit in? The Zune, being fairly new to the world, wants to be the first adhoc user friendly player. Despite some early problems with software glitches and freeze ups, the Zune seems promising on the fact of delivering on updated models. (Can anyone say Win95?) With the user friendly interface, this actually makes Zune a very good machine for beginners.
However, some may not be willing to try the unit because of certain formats not being supported. Also, Zune utilizes are not compliant with sites such as Napster so it will not work. Zune is to become a self supporting machine as updates progress. The Zune’s wireless capabilities are limited. Music and Photos are fine, but try video and forget it. It will not do it. Also there are limitations on the shared music and picture files, Three days three plays. The packaging of the product is like that of no other player in the world. You must actually pull and untie a ribbon to get to the Zune underneath. It also comes with a suede case. Once this player has been out for a while and adapts to it environment, this player will be a true competitor to the field of MP3 players.

The 80GB Zune is a decent choice as an 80GB MP3 player. It sounds great, its interface isn't a hindrance, and its pricing is right in line with the competition. Accessories and features such as premium headphones and an FM tuner give it at least one area where it's a step up from an iPod classic, and if you're interested in wireless synching, this could be the player for you. Microsoft Zune wireless music player
Reviewer: reghardware.co.uk04 October 2007- Overall 8

The Zune is a very good debut with great features, such as the large screen for video and the wireless music-sharing capability. It's also reasonably priced compared to its fruit-branded rival. It still has some way to go, though, if it wants to take a significant amount of market share away from the iPod: the restrictions on shared music need to be relaxed and build quality could be improved. The Zune is well thought out and has some nifty features, but it's unlikely to displace the iPod just yet Read more

New MP3 player
I kept seeing the Microsoft Zune (brown) dirt cheap on lots of websites. Purely because no one wants a brown one but they were super good value for money. Not sure if they are still cheap, but might be worth looking into (especially if you don't care about fashion )
